Vagśsholon's Notebook, 26th Felsite, 1052
Some moss Agate was found. I attempted to convince Grukol to allow me to some as ammo for Vīrumid, but he refused, something about how it is too precious to use to toss around the terrain or something. This is almost as disappointing as not allowing me to use the skull of the werewolf as ammo! Oh well, I'm sure if she's needed, Vīrumid will be granted all the ammo she can handle, regardless of how much Grukol doesn't want it around, or how precious or rare it is.

OOC: By all means, it'll flesh out your character more  :)

Grukol's Journal, 7th Hematite, 1052
Apparently Cupid is stalking the halls of Sword Echoes. Jorhind and Rice officially came out saying they were madly in love with each other. It's a beautiful thing that two dwarfs can fall for each other while death looms on the surface! As I thought, Rice is a bit off kilter. We all knew Jorhind was insane when she requested her cabin. But good on them!

Grukol's Journal, 14th Hematite, 1052
Today marks the beginning of our Fortifications. It's been too long that we've been out in the open. Jorhind is practically asking to be razed. So we've began placing walls and choke points. And by "We" I mean Rice and Lem. Upon completion there will be several spots for archers to snipe out of, along with multiple locations to place Siege Engines. Vag's current catapult will have to be disassembled at some point, but for now it'll remain where it is.

Lem's Journal, 14th Hematite, 1052

Well today we have begun the fortifications ordered by the leader. MY work is beautiful and perfect as always. Of course it would be better had Rice not been making a fool of himself and used a 35 Degree Angle instead of the 50 degree planar edge. Oh well, I guess not everybody can be as skilled as the best.
I'm going to go grab a drink and let Rice do the rest. I'll fix his problems later. I sure hope he doesn't mess up too bad... *Masterfully drawn picture of a Fortification*

Grukol's Journal, 19th Malachite, 1052
Shown below is the layout of our new Barracks.

The two side areas are for Archers to train their skills. The two nubs on the top will eventually branch out into more Sparring/Living Quarters for our troops. It's just another step in the right direction I suppose. I've sat down and started doing book keeping, in between farming and brewing. Rice and Lem continue building walls above, theyre coming along quite nicely. Besides that, it's been increasingly quiet. Even the Deer in the area have scattered. We're all alone.

25th Malachite, 1052
"JACKPOT!!!" yelled Valcon and Jorhind in unison. Once again the shouts echoed about the outpost. Once more, Grukol stands from his stooped position. As he turns around the two dwarfs cram through the entrance to the farm.
"Magnetite!" yells Valcon right into his face. Grukol takes a moment to wipe the spittle off his beard.
"Magnetite eh?"
"Yeah! We can make Iron now!" Valcon and Jorhind smile.
"We can't make good ol Dwarven Steel. But Iron is always a good step in the right direction!" he responds.
---
Meanwhile, Vag stands next to Starfall. She let's loose another stone, and watches it soar through the sky for a while. She then starts to load another stone, when she notices movement on the horizon. Just then, Skadi walks by. Vag grabs her by the arm.
"Hold on a moment, do you see that out there."
Skadi stops and looks out and squints.
"No" she says almost immediately.
"There's a werewolf lingering out there." she warns.
"I'll take your word for it" Skadi marches out on the other side of Jorhind's cabin and stations herself there.
She watched out into the woods past their clearing. Every once in a while, she'd see the shambling mass of fur lurking out in the dark.

Grukol's Journal, 7th Limestone, 1052
It's been a while since I've ordered walls placed around our Fort. The progress? The eastern wall has finally been started on by Lem. Rice has been elsewhere, doing whatever he does with Jorhind. Something I wish never to know. However, they're finally getting around to it. I'm also contemplating sending Skadi out to deal with the Werewolf. I have no idea whether it would be a good idea or not. On one hand it's off on it's own, sniffing it's own arse and occasionally baying at the moon. On the other, it might get hungry and aim for us. On a final note. We found Native Silver. It'll make good practice weapons I suppose.

11th Limestone 1052
It was a lucky day that Grukol was wandering top side. The smell of Plump Helmets was clinging to him and he had to air himself out. He looked out to the north.
CLANK-TWANG-FWOOOOOOOSH!!!
He looked over and saw Vag loading another stone into the cradle of the catapult.
Sighing to himself, he brought his attention back to the horizon. That's when he noticed it.
CLANK-TWANG-FWOOOOOOOSH!!!
The boulder flew through the air. The Dwarven Caravan meandered slowly into the firing range. Grukol scrambled onto the top of the northern defensive wall. He waved his arms violently.
"GET OUT THE WAY YOU FOOL! MOVE!" he turned down to Vag and yelled down.
"CEASE FIRE!"
The boulder hit the ground and bounced across the ground. It slowed momentum, and stopped slowly to the right of the Caravan. Who stopped briefly, considered going back, but then trudged forward towards the fort.
---
He heard screaming from the outpost. Though he couldnt decipher anything the wild dwarf was yelling to him, he did notice something; And that was the huge boulder hurdling towards him. The Liaison halted the caravan in time to be missed by the boulder as it slid to the side.
"Er...Did they fire a catapult at us?" asked the trader to his right.
"No idea, generally this would be misinterpreted for an attack would it not?" he questioned the traders.
"Well...yeah" they both said together.
"I believe they were warning us of the boulder, otherwise they would have let us get bowled over by it. Sounds logical eh?"
"I suppose" agreed the trader on his left.
Onward they went.

What better way to encourage traders to hurry than by paving the road for them!  With boulders ... while they're walking on it ... =)

23rd Limestone, 1052
"INTRUDER!"
The Kobold had somehow sneaked past the Traders and had gotten into the main hallway of the outpost. Fortunately he was spotted before he could grab nothing of importance. Seeing how we have nothing of importance. WerewolfFang was on the case however. Before the Trader's Marksdwarfs could let loose an arrow, Fang had already torn out the poor sop's throat. We'll nab it's dagger, and place it's body outside for the birds to feast on.
