I know.

It just keeps freezing the game, and often freezes my computer. (windowed mode)

I thought you were having the error someone else was having.  The region might be too big for your computer.  Necro, can you get it to work?

Go ahead and take the next turn, necro.

Sorry Jack, but since you can't get it to work, this makes sense.  Also, you can try to load the next save when necro is done and see if maybe it's something I did.

Well, I have a pretty damn powerful computer, and it runs fine on it. So it could very well be power.

I'll get to it tomorrow. If I don't post anything before thursday (GMT), it means I am in western Norway where technology does not exceede church bells. Please take over. I'm saying this because you never know, there might be a power shortage or war tomorrow.

I'm getting really nervous and impatient.  I kinda want something really big to happen to the fort, even though I put so much work into it already.  Maybe the dwarves are lucky that I'm not in charge any more.

I'm sorry. I just didn't have time to finish the year, and only got to late summer. The real world dragged me away with its unforgiving touch.

1st Granite 1052

That's strange.. Dresdor came to me this morning and told me that he wanted me to take charge this year. Fair enough, I’ve always sort of liked ordering people around. I’ve been working hard the whole year, and could use some change. Me and Dresdor, we understand each other. We’re miners.

7th Granite

Time to get working. I have announced my new boss status to everyone, and nobody seemed to object. I will try to avoid Dresdor’s fate, and the first thing I have in mind is getting some shiny new cells for everybody.
I hope they’s take it as a sign of good will that I’m doing it myself.

14th Granite

Elves. I will try to be nice to them. Hope we have enough trinkets. Dresdor seems to be enthusiastic about the meeting. He is personally guiding the elves to our gates.

3rd Slate

A Rhesus macaque “attack”. I ordered some of the boys to deal with it, and they did by breaking their tiny bones. The elves didn’t have many nice things. I could only buy a few shitty berries, because my most valuable trade items conflicted with their code of pansyness.

Dresdor just threw a party in his statue garden. I somehow doubt the wisdom in that. What’s more: he invited all prisoners to join him..

15th Slate

Some of the macaques managed to get as far as the statue garden. Why? Because our entrance is dangerously exposed. I have started a wall project, which will deny intruders entrance from the west. The prisoners just finished the road project of the previous ruler, so they can be put to work on this. The cells are also almost done now, but we lack doors and beds.

9th Felsite

Prisoners And the leading one is a butcher. Disturbing.
There also arrived

A glassmaker
2 trappers
A fish dissector
A “cheese” maker (slang for what?)
A kitten
A planter
A blacksmith
6 peasants
1 fishery worker
1 dyer
1 animal dissector
1 stoneworker
1 armorer
1 herbalist
1 “Soap” maker (I think I know what this “soap” is..)
2 Children (That’s harsh. I’ll try to arrange their return)

Armok save us.. What’s becoming of the Hall of Chaining!?

On a side note, I think I’ll call the new wall “The shattered bones of fleeing”.

15th Felsite

Oh no.. This was going to happen sooner or later, I know, but.. Now!?

He claimed a craftsdwarf’s workshop and started fetching items for some project of his. Now what are we going to have to show the officials in the fall? Now he wants wood and cloth. Why did it have to be cloth!

I am a bit concerned about our two new arrivals, the “soap” and “cheese” makers. I think I need to keep an eye on them. They can guard the entrance. Just recently a kobold thief were found skulking about in here. And I am concerned about the two children’s safety, until I can get them out of here. You hear all this about goblin snatchers, and you can’t help but worry..

The poor children seem to be the soap maker and a peasant's. I doubt they will be willing to part with them, unfortunately.

Apparently we need a sheriff now. And I decided to offer myself for the job. Why not? It’s useless anyway.
1st Hematite

Summer is here! I threw a party to the occasion. The statue garden really is beautiful.

Two of the prisoners asked to share a cell. I just couldn't say no to them, though I don’t want any more kids here.

I simply must mention the engraving Todid Dodoktholest made. It is quite a marvel! I hope more of this is on the way.

I’m having the wall improved with battlements, with regard for the future.

I have a made a hole for the dangerous cheese maker, whom I discovered guilty of a grizzly crime. The only exit from the holes will be through the barracks, and can be locked at will. I believe we will have no incidence now.

25th Hematite

I’m having a tower built to the glory of Lushob, who is often associated with storms, rain, lightning, thunder and jealousy. The tower will be narrow but tall, and will certainly please Lushob, especially, I think, if it can surpass the mountain in height.

1st Malachite

More prisoners. Damn.

1 Wood burner
1 Tresher
1 Furnace operator
2 Mules
1 Dog
1 Fisherdwarf
1 Cow calf
1 Donkey
1 Dyer
1 Soap maker

The camp's dwarf population now counts 45.

I'm afraid the butcher became to frustrated by not having any cloth, that he snapped. I'm preparing a graveyard. It will be conveniently placed by the new tower. Note to eventual reader: I want to be buried in the tower. Preferably up high.

20th Malachite

The butcher has stripped himself of all clothes, and is now rolling around in the mud. I don't think we can help him.

1st Galena

I don't like the looks I am getting. Is it the butcher incidence? My fancy room? The tower? I don't know. But I think it might be best if someone else took over for a while.

And to think, I didn't even last a year..

I uploaded the save, so you can go on from here or start over. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=144

And yes, I am Norwegian. Og trønder!

Dwarf fanatic you are up.  You can do a year or a year and a half to get us back on track if you really want.

Jack, try out his save and see if it works for you.
