I'm on it, I'm on it...

It is finished! Inspiration strikes wherever it likes, and I am fortunate indeed that it should strike me so strongly as when it did! I have crafted Thizók Betan Ágesh. Like most dwarves, I am not actually schooled in the old tongue, but I named my creation in it anyway, as is customary. Since it's so much better than the other artifacts here, I decided it had to have a longer name. The result is this name. Apparently, it translates to Fastenedfinger the Calm of Contests. It's a fire imp bone bracelet, and Edëm tells me it's worth 80400 monies!

Anyway, thanks to this, I have been elected the new curator of the museum! Yowzers! I suppose the first thing I'll do is to start building up our actual museum. We have only a single, exceptional electrum statue, kindly donated to us by Killheart... Hehehehehe....

I have an idea....

Yes, but it's going slowly because I'm also playing my tournament fortress.

I'll switch over to Limulegen now, shan't I?

EDIT:
Melbil's glumprong log:
Crossbowgoblin ambush. It was a massacre. Our military must've been halved or something before we retreated inside. Why weren't they wearing armour, anyway? I've ordered the survivors to carry plate armour and shields henceforth. If it hadn't been for the stonefall traps, we'd be dead right now!

Does the fort even have armor for them to wear?  From Squeegy's log, it looks like he managed to strike iron, but wasn't at the point of making equipment yet.

Squeegy, could you add me to the queue for another turn?  It isn't really the full Succession experience unless your fortress is covered with the half-built megaprojects of previous players.

No, I didn't have time to make armor. I just made the BEGINNINGS of a military.

That's odd. I registered several shields in the stockpiles at least. Oh well, guess I'll start an armoring operation when I actually work on the museum(the deadline for the tournament is tomorrow!).

--Melbil's tower-cap log
-Carp!

Now I understand why the previous ruler was so keen on abdicating his post. Not only is there a deposit of Adamantine here... Which has, of course, been kept a secret from the general populace. I've stayed well away from it: a true follower of Moldath Uzolid know the legends surrounding it well and it is not a box I wish to open. Nevertheless, this means that the nobility will take note. Especially the most noble of them all... The King.

On the plus side, at least I won't have to worry about any barons, counts or dukes!

Also, some migrants have arrived. Along with them came a Dungeon Master. For some reason he wasn't wearing much, only a hood, cloak and a pair of mittens.

They were all quite valuable articles of clothing though. But why wasn't he wearing any pants?

He's also a skilled metalcrafter and furnace operator. He claims it's from his working with chains and other such parnaphelia required for his job.

Anyway, this means we'll have to provide him with some furnishing. I've been working on providing every dwarf with furnishings right now, so this shouldn't be a problem to do. The thing I fear is that the King will probably come here. And he'll expect suitable accommodations...

Meep.

...actually, as I understand it, it turns out the current version is bugged so that striking adamantine never makes the King show up.  You get the message or indicator, but he never actually arrives.  A side-effect of this is that no *other* noble ever arrives, either (except the Dungeon Master) - the baron doesn't come because he's superseded by the king, but the king never arrives, and so on with all other nobles.

I could be wrong, in which case impossible-mandate-hammerings for everyone!  But otherwise, the adamantine strike mostly just means we never run out of dwarves to throw at problems - once you have admantine visible, immigration maxes out no matter what else happens at the fort.

Damnit, now you made me want to make a bridge trap that catapults dwarves at goblins.

--Melbil's feathertree log
-Spring rolls around. Been a while since I wrote a proper journal entry, eh? A lot of things have happened recently. The Dungeon Master has acquired some clothes. He told me one night about some rules that forbade him most clothes for some reason. I didn't delve too deeply into that, of course. He also told me that he didn't have to obey them now, since it was only the King demanding that he followed these rules. I didn't have the heart to tell him about the Adamantine, although him being nobility means he should know... I mean, he deserves to know, what with him actually contributing to the museum and all. He has been a valuable source of information about history, legendary beasts and treasure and so on. I shall recommend to all future curators to seek his counsel.

After seeing that the dangerous allure of free stuff is enough to get dwarves to step outside despite orders to the contrary, even if only for a few seconds. I ordered a wall built behind the lava moat, so bowgoblins wouldn't hit anyone. I also built one around an extended trap-maze leading to the depot, which was also added recently. There's the problem of caravan access, which I haphazardly fixed with a pair of bridges connected to a lever, which doesn't leave much space for traps. Oh well. These two projects aren't finished, but they've begun at least.

Amusing fact: Nish Sosadalĺth was making stone crafts and was actually out of the workshop before she noticed she had just given birth to an infant, which was still in the workshop! They named her Moldath Hazywires.

Finally, there's a huge mob of jobless people in the dining hall. I have no idea what to do to keep them busy! I think I'll simply look for suggestions from the general populace.
