Winter has come unnoticed, the sun still high in the sky continues to blast down upon us. Chaos has descended upon the compound. A pair of kobold theives were making their way into our camp, completely unseen, until Pingles actually stepped on one. Pingles screamed in fright, the unlucky kobold screamed in pain, held in place by Pingles' pointy heel grinding into his tail, as his companion darted away. The screams alerted the rest of us, but as we ran to assist Pingles, all of us stopped dead in our tracks to see Pingles unleashing all of her frustrations upon the kobold, in a flurry of fists, feet and fur, nine months of pent up anger was poured out upon the kobold's body.
As her final blow was lain, she seemed to notice us, a smile spread across her face "Oh, hello darlings!"
More than slightly disturbing.
A few hours later I was working on the northern wall to the new magmaforge area, when Strife stumbled past me into the compound, burn marks covering his torso. As I turned to look where he had come from, I saw a fireball hurtling towards me. I jumped and spun, feeling the heat singe the tips of my beard, narrowly avoiding the fireball's path.
Imp Shoots!
As I landed I saw the fireball continuing on its course...
The slave was lugging a green glass cabinet into the compound. I guess I had never expressly forbidden them from retrieving furniture from the magma vent, so the slaves thought it better to get them than risk punishment.
Rakust Daubwire raised her head to see who was shouting at her this time, it was the camp's leader, only he wasn't scolding her this time. As the fireball sped towards her she tried to react, but the green glass cabinet on her back held her in place. The fireball hit her squarely in the face...freedom...
Imp Scores!
Fearing for my life I ran for the gate, if I could get inside i could close it and seal off the fire imp.
Nearly there I stumbled and fell into the dirt, rolling over in time to see the fire imp bounding towards me. As I scrambled backwards I knew this would be the end. Just as the imp caught up to me it paused, seconds later Elfchopper appeared, leaping over my head, axe gleaming, with a wardog on either side of her. Her axe arced through the air, the first swing severing the imp's left leg, the second lopping off its head, body parts seemed to fly in every direction.
But Elfchopper was not finished yet, as their companion fell, a pair of imps I hadn't noticed took flight with Elfchopper in hot pursuit. As she caught up to the first imp it cowered, holding up its hand to shield itself from Elfchopper's blow. The hand and head were both cleft from its body, sent hurtling through the air.
The third imp seemed resigned to his fate after both his companions had fallen, sitting with its hands raised in prayer, Elfchopper's battle axe seperated both lower arms as it once again removed the head from the imp. With her work done, she promptly fell asleep, her body remarkably unscathed.
We have cared for Strife the best we can manage. We all hope he can recover from his wounds, but without water to treat it, we do not have high hopes.
With all that I've dealt with today I said nothing when I checked up on Ricemastah's progress in the quarry.
