The first .38a, before 176.38a.  Luckily, hidden magma pockets don't seem to be affected by the overflowing problem of open magma calderas, so you can update safely.

Which version of DF and Winrar are you using? I've just downloaded it, unpacked with WinRAR 3.51 and was able to play it with 38a.
Try either repairing the downloaded archive (alt-r) or redownloading it.

Hah, I didn't realize how close "Karaoke Restaurant" was to "kapaoke pectopah"... I suspect they're pronounced almost exactly the same.

There's a fair chance that the connection broke before you downloaded the file completely.  I'm getting 0-8k per second downloading from here in the US.  Not that I'm playing the succession game, but I'd like to follow it, anyway  

It finished downloading.  I'm using an older version of PowerArchiver 2002, which doesn't like the world.sav file.  "CRC Error".  Could you perhaps rearchive it with zip, or something less proprietary/unstable than RAR?  Then use http://dffd.wimbli.com/   DF files aren't going to compress well, anyway, it appears to me they're already compressed, or possibly encrypted.

Blast it. I uploaded it to the http://rapidshare.com/files/94290599/df.zip.html  , zip-packed. Again, I can download and run it without any problem.
If that won't help, I don't know what will.
