Glovebreakfast, the spiritual successor to Boatmurdered
« on: May 08, 2008, 11:40:00 pm »

Welcome to the official forum thread for "Glovebreakfast", a comedy succession game inspired by Boatmurdered.

Note: This thread contains strong profanity. If such language offends you, do not read it.

First of all, if you don't know what Boatmurdered is or haven't read through it, stop whatever you're doing and go HERE.
(And prepare to laugh your ass off)

Introductory images:
Regional view. Yes, it's 6x6, go cry about it.

The entire point of this succession game is to make people laugh, and have fun doing it. Rules are quite simple:

  1. One year = one turn. As soon as one year has passed (ie. once it becomes the next Spring), your turn is over. Save, zip, and upload for the next user.
  2. Don't do anything that makes things difficult for the next user. That means no flooding with water, setting demons loose, or anything else dumb like that.
  3. Don't do anything stupid. Unless its funny, and it doesn't conflict with rule number 2.
  4. Don't do anything that could be considered an exploit/cheating. For example exploiting drawbridges to kill enemies.
  5. Make it as funny as possible, BUT REMEMBER, we don't want the fort to die after a few updates. So, DO actually TRY to make a good fort that can defend itself against sieges.

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE:

Edit: Applications are closed for now. Once we go through the current list it will open up again.

Current participants (in no particular order):
1. Mido *done*
2. dresdor *skipped for now*
3. A_Fey_Dwarf *done*
4. Tarx *current*
5. Getheli
6. GeneralValter
7. Devath
8. nahkh
9. Grath
10. dresdor

A succession game inspired by boatmurdered should be played in the 2d version but i'll join anyway. Put me after Tarx at about 5th.

Edit] Yea you might want to reduce the embark zone otherwise I might as well not join, my PC would fry with a 6x6 zone.

Hmmm...  I'm not sure how wise it would be to try to create a spiritual successor...  Boatmurdered was what it was because it "happened" to have everything go the way it did.  It wasn't actively trying to be Boatmurdered, it just was.

I'd join up, but that embark zone is far too big for my poor little machine.  I wouldn't be able to get anything done, and I got used to playing 6-8 FPS when I first started with DF!

Hmm, I'd like to take part too. Just PM me when it's my turn, but don't tell me any of the background of what happened thus far. It should make things more interesting, yes?

We only need to play one in-game year right? Should be no problem.

edit: and I agree, that embark zone is massive.

I have decided to join. Put me on the list.

EDIT: Might as  well jump on the bandwagon and say that that embark zone is massive. Cut off the west side and we'll be fine.

Perhaps even cutting off a little from the south side would be good.

It's important to keep enough of the river to have a huge steaming load of carp, however.  Since elephants are now only slightly more dangerous than raccoons, carp will have to take their place as the BOAD(Bane Of All Dwarves).

Plus, you can actually use magma as a doomsday device against them.  It'll turn it into obsidian, thus encasing the little bastards.  You won't be able to flood the entire map with magma, but you won't need to since they're localized.
