Biting is a secondary attack, meaning until your primary attacks are disabled you can't use it.

Pretty much the only reason why he was able to bite is cause the horse broke both of his arms first.

Hmm that or it only becomes the default attack if you HAVE no arms. Wolves for example.

All I see is a rather pudgy man in fine robes trying to gnaw the horse to death with his limbs brokenly hangning from his torso. And he appears to be winning. Its like a perverse mirror image of the Black Knight of Monty Python.
