I wonder, do the Marked of the Soulsmith also get a second chance?

Interesting coincidence? Or something more sinister?

Coincidence. That happens to be the DF symbol for demon.

The Journal of Kodor Ironblood, 23rd of Granite, 1091
Bloody Elven diplomat back again this year. Keeps insisting we limit the logging of our nonexistant forest to well over a hundred trees. I make a game of it these days, keep trying to get him to increase the amount they are willing to 'tolerate'. Mad buggers.

The spring carries with it a chill wind, thought. Not the natural chill it normally brings, but a wind that bodes ill.
I fear our arrival here may not have completely prevented what we set out to prevent. That is rather unfortunate, since it will probably doom us all.
I've tried discussing this with Olon, but he seems preoccupied with his new bed (although I must say it is quite a remarkable bed, I find myself somewhat jealous).

The Journal of Bloody Elven, diplomat, 26rd of Ash, 1091
These blasted dwarves! Of course there are no trees, they've cut them all down!  I try to convence them that if they cut less, there will be beautiful forests for them to frolic in away from these horrid caves and building.  But they just wont believe me. My threats are just not enough it seems, and I can't bring myself to deny them their ways too much, and try my best to restrict the number of trees they cut, even practically giving them forests, but they just wont stop cutting down their own!

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.

this does not remove the possibility that Captain Mayday might have a different ending for this story rather than the one that most people would expect.

although i will readily admit that this is simple supposition on my part.  not like when i called out Xotes as the Acolyte.

GAH!

JUST FINISHED.  TOOK WEEKS. STARTED AT BEGINNING. so thirsty.

and... it's NOT FINISHED?!

my immense and +ecstasy+ is tempered by the harshest reality!
to be clear, the legendary stories sticky says this... FORT OF FORTS.. BASTION OF DWARFLINESS, settlement ENTIRELY BEYOND DESCRIPTION TO FALL HUMBLED AND WORDLESSLY BEFORE to DIE in the WHITE SNOW, KNOWING YOU HAVE GAZED UPON PERFECTION AND SHALL NOT SEE IMPROVEMENT... Odd!x cancels post: overcome with emotion

ahem.  The sticky says this is finished.  Imagine my surprise!

I await your *dwarf story* to be completed, and I know that it will menace with spikes of action, be adorned in rings of solidified blood, wrapped in bands of crystallized god-essence and decorated with epicness on the magnitude equal or surpassing that of the level of danger found in the natural Australian landscape, which gives me nightmares

Needless to say, this thread has vastly entertained me for the past few weeks and I sincerely appreciate it.  Thank you captain.  Thank you, all who posted in this thread.

oh, and I renamed biscuits so that they were crumpets in my game.

The sticky has it listed in three parts.  The first two are finished.

They really should clarify that, though.

Edit:  Well, that's how the old legends thread did it.  Not the new one.
