Ah yes if I'm not mistaken, the Cap'n runs on valve time, doesn't he? Minus the actual hope of updates that, is.

There we go. Should be readable for you now, Jackrabbit.
Soooo... we should check again once Half Life 2 ep 3 comes round?

The Journal of Mayor Lokum Lerommeng, 16th of Moonstone, 1090
Today we did a test run of what is popularly called 'the giant shaft', not without certain connotations. I am told that there is a lever in the barracks are that controls all the bridges in there.
However, when we pulled it, the laziness of our mechanic was revealed! The majority of the bridges did not move! They would never move!

Disgraceful! Even the Captain expressed annoyance at this oversight by the mechanics, and I quickly ordered the situation rectified.

There's also the problem with the bottom floor not entirely being filled with steel spikes, like he'd intended. I've ordered the ceaseless production of giant steel spikes until this situation is fixed.
I must say it feels good to have the fortress actually producing something, and I'm starting to understand the Captain's fixation on our big projects.

While I was at the barracks I took the opportunity to visit with BurnedToast and Grantyman, still invalid after seasons of recovery from horrific injury. They were less pleased to see me, what with me being the cause of their current distress. Live and learn!

Captain's Log, 22nd of Moonstone 1090
I think our new mayor has gone at least partly mad with power. She's ordered the construction of an elaborate floor in the middle of nowhere... says she wants a nice big ballroom or something. Since when do dwarves have balls? Since when have dwarves ever held those kind of social events? She's mad!

I can't deny, though, that it's keeping the citizenry employed.

The Journal of Mayor Lokum Lerommeng, 10th of Obsidian, 1090
I must say, the dwarves of this fortress work very well! I doubt any other fortress could have thrown up such a magnificent ballroom within the timeframe they seem to have.

I also had them pave the bottom of the watergarden for good measure, since it'd be nice to have it filled with water during events. I pulled the lever myself and watched the water rush forth!

The Journal of Mayor Lokum Lerommeng, 27th of Obsidian, 1090
Ah, what excitement! Our young Catten Fairsabres has entered some kind of creative frenzy, taking over one of the upper masons shops in the process! She's gone and taken a whole pile of platinum nuggets for starters... unlike the Captain, however, I don't feel that this is stealing from me personally. I look forward to see what she makes!

Captain's Log, 27th of Obsidian, 1090
Yet another one of those Fairsabres kids has gone and started collecting valuable stuff from the fortress! I mined most of that stuff! That's my valuable stuff! Give it back!
