Amazing, Bromek and the Captain finally got hitched.

Did they do that on their own, or did you do anything special (like locking them up together) to get it to trigger?

(I'm fairly curious because I have a few couples that I'd like to get married somewhat quickly right now... don't feel a need to answer if you don't want too though.

It happened as a result of them both having downtime. I had to unmilitarise Ironblood forcibly through DC so he would still be mayor. This also let him get his official duties up to date. During this time they partied together frequently, hence the marriage.

As for the age of the fortress, something like 38 years.

What? DC can't mod siege weapons. I'm crushed. Mind you, I don't use DC.

38 years old . . .
That about equal to all of my forts combined.  :-[

...And then it turned out that the Soulsmith was, in fact, merely the patron deity of shoemakers.

No no no, that's the Solesmith. Course that one could be the god of freshwater fishing... Oh wait this is DF, must be the god of both shoemaking and freshwater fishing. Silly me.

How did you pull that off with Companion? Trying to make my two pet dwarves marry eachother... and locking them in their room with lots of booze and a barracks doesn't really seem to work... would be more efficient if they were partying... (Yes, they are both champions)

I utilised DC to unchampionise them so I could deactivate their military status. They resumed normal civilian activities and I modified the placement of my meeting halls (and made a new, small one to be the only active one) for this exact purpose.

Captain,

Wow. Simply Wow.

Over 1 year of great writing and entertainment for so many people, and the story of Nist Akath still goes on. Everyone here got so much enjoyment out of your hard work and dedication. I don't think we can thank you enough!

I also want to thank everyone who participated in this thread. For me, the feedback and interaction from everyone made this story that much better - I really don't think the story would be the same without you guys.

This community is really amazing. I look forward to the further legends of Nist Akath, and to BurnedToast one day getting that grand throne room he deserves.

here's a first:  registration to post SPOILERS.

1.  the Acolyte has to have been one of the original seven embarkers
2.  she must be trusted implicitly by the Captain
3.  she must be easily capable of influencing him

i know what you're thinking, it couldn't possibly be her.  yet it is.  the narrative arc demands it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, i give you the dread Acolyte:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

why, yes i am just teasing you.  and no, even now i suspect you've taken the clues i've given you and gone the wrong direction.   ;D

i won't post my guess unless Mayday okays it, i'm pretty sure i've got it sussed out.

Ahah!  I knew you didn't really know it the moment I started reading that post!  I would prefer that Nist Akath not be spoiled.
