This is truly a plot twist of epic creativity.

I don't really know that much about megabeasts, but is the colossus the most badass of them? Is there some sort of clear ranking system?

Also, how's my dwarf doing?

Does he have blood on his hands? DUM DUM DUM...
As if he could kill anything.

Darktongue blacked out as Captain Ironblood told him to stay put.
He woke up seconds later to see the Captain mere footsteps away, on one knee, pushing aside the Colossus' blows with his axe and shield.
Clearly the monster was still after him.

Disregarding the Captain for a moment, it reached over him and grabbed Darktongue by the throat with its right hand, attempting to choke the life out of him.
Dwarf after dwarf hurled itself at the monster, trying to save the young warrior.

To Darktongue, the world seemed to take on a quiet quality, as the colors drained from his vision. The world was full of bronze.

It took Kast to finally bring his hammer down on the monster's arm with such force he was sure it would never be the same again.
The Colossus' arm certainly wouldn't ever be the same again, as it shattered at the point of impact, falling to the ground nearby, with Darktongue gasping for breath having been released from its terrible grip.

The Colossus lost all composure and began striking randomly, clearing a path to Darktongue, grabbing him once again, this time by his right arm, releasing him only moments later to strike at Erendor.

Erendor gasped as his right arm was broken, it was, to him, just the latest in a long line of unhappy events.
This moment of introspection was his last as the Colossus brought his remaining fist down upon his head, smashing it into the body as an unrecognizable mess.

If nothing else, it gave the other warriors new focus as they leapt at the monster, and shortly it was short both eyes as well as an arm, as it flailed around blindly.

Viktoria took the opportunity to shatter its left leg with a focused strike with her spear, toppling it to the ground at last.

The battle was theirs, and the remaining dwarves brought their weapons down on its torso at once, breaking it into pieces.

Such was their grief that they kept striking at it well after it was dead.

I forget, was your most recent dwarf Dwarfaholic? Because if so, he's long dead, dude.
I also souped up the Colossus a bit. I tried it without doing anything, and it was disappointing for a giant man made of solid bronze.

Then Nosey rushes out of the fort, and punches the Colossus' head off!

Captain's Log. 21st of Limestone.
I can't remember a harder month. So much violence within our walls. It was unexpected.

I've never even heard of a Colossus being this far south. I wonder how he learned of where we were.

I asked Xotes to see if she could find out something from her links back in the mountain homes.

In the meantime, we're busily shifting poor Erendor's remains into his tomb, along with his personal effects.

No, your name is on the list.
If I acknowledged everyone, I would be making many more posts.

If I could grab another character...

Name: Daisy or Sunflower
Gender: Either
Job: Nothing/clothier (plants only)
This dwarf is basically an elf, minus the balls to pick up a bow and shoot at dwarves. He protests outside of butcher's workshops on the 'mass murder of animals'. Rants on about how the goblins are only part of the cycle of violence, maaan.

Etc.

Okay, for your perusal, here are a couple of images rendered in 3d.

First, this is the Hammer Tower being built. It's nearly complete.
This tower is above the Galleria which occupies the base section and goes 1 z level into the ground.

This is the fort in progress. It will be a bit taller once complete but I had to zoom out a fair way because it is so huge.
Unfortunately, because the Great Shaft still has its floor sections in place, I can't show you the drop.
