Captain's Log. 26th of Slate.
Today the Baron mandated the construction of bronze items.
I told him we couldn't do it, as we had already used up all the bronze in making his bronze chains earlier in the year.

He didn't seem to care about my 'excuses' as he put it, and said that while I was going about obtaining bronze, I may as well turn it into a cage.

I don't know why he wants a cage.

Captain's Log. 28th of Slate.
Today Keller gave birth while walking down the main passageway up top, to a little girl named Atir, meaning 'Dye'.

Work has been proceeding with increasing speed down below, as we create the final blocks needed to finish the great shaft (finally), and to continue work on the Fort above.

Bullion is actually a Champion.
He spends a lot of time on pointless patrol within the bounds of the fort, occasionally catching Kobolds

He would be far better use to the crossbow teams, and I'd like to train him, and all other dwarves, in their use, if you're cool with that.

I'll have to check, but I believe the entire military is at least at hero level, and Nosey trains a fair bit more.

But rest assured his skills will be put to the test.

Those two things perked me up. My Dwarf will make the Spartans look like a bunch of small children wielding wet noodles.

Watch he'll die in the first skirmish that happens

Captain's Log. 11th of Hematite.
Today brought the human diplomat, whom the Baron quickly absconded with into his office.
I also commenced a program of crosstraining all military dwarves with crossbows in the same manner that we've been crosstraining the crossbowmen in hammers.
It's important for a military to be flexible.

Captain's Log. 12th of Hematite.
The goblins have shown up, right behind the human diplomat.

But they have not reckoned with the state of our construction effort.
We shall fight them from atop the fort walls!

Captain's Log. 17th of Hematite.
Today was a funny old day. After repelling the relatively minor goblin insurgence, we received the Human caravan.
Some goblin child snatchers attempted to sneak in with them, but were slain in our many traps.

The election was held today, and I was once again elected the mayor of this fortress. For 22 years I have ruled this fortress, guiding it from a place of shelter, to become a place to look upon in awe.

I hope somebody makes me a cake to mark the occasion this year.

22 years... Holy crap. I think Captain Ironblood dying of old age is definitely in the running.

Well, so long as he didn't start out in his 100s, he should be okay.

Gags would be kinda useless because dwarves can chew though multiple layers of steel plate and mail armor in seconds.

But then again, thrown mud can decapitate somebody so there's no telling what a piece of leather will do.
