You could finally answer the question we all have been wondering about: do tame dragons eat dwarves if they never killed one before being tamed?

I suggest taming it (or maybe the hydra) then locking it in a room with some poor dwarf and a stack of food for a year and seeing if he survives.

An arena fight between the 2 would also be pretty neat I guess, if they fight and if you can arrange it so they don't like me on fire or eat me.

Captain's Log. 16th of Obsidian.
Another, actual, criminal has been caught today. Zuglar Heavenwhipped, a mason, has been caught after vandalism and violence against a fellow prisoner.

Two hammerstrikes and 24 days in prison, if he survives the hammerstrikes of course.

What's confusing is that, according to my records, Zuglar is normally quite good at handling stress.
Of course, normally Zuglar is also clothed, so that pretty much sums up how normal his life is at the moment.
On the bright side, he probably won't be destroying any more infrastructure in the near future, or possibly ever again.

Captain's Log. 17th of Obsidian.
Unbelievable. Zuglar has just destroyed his bed in his own cell.
The Hammerer has deemed this to increase his punishment to 4 Hammerstrikes.

Captain's Log. 14th of Granite.
It has been an unfortunate start to the Springtime.
First, the Stairwell of Sorrow claimed yet another mad soul, a tanner named Udil.
Second, Zuglar failed to survive the four hammerstrikes, though that is not surprising.
Third, just today, the Goblins have arrived, once more arriving in great numbers.
At this stage, dealing with them is just an unfortunate routine, however, and there's no real threat to the fortress itself.

Captain's Log. 23rd of Granite.
The siege persists, but does us little harm apart from cutting us off from the outside world.
However, one of our master craftsdwarves, Ast Yellshoots, became so disturbed by the fact that one of his works of art had gone missing that he lost his temper, destroying a floor grate and plunging himself into the cistern beneath the baths.

While I couldn't give two hoots about his precious artwork, I couldn't just leave him to drown. There was also the fact that he was still carrying his artifact amulet around to consider as well.

Also to consider was the fact that we had removed the lever that releases the water from the cistern, in order to relocate it to a better place, and that it had not yet been linked up.

This meant I had to remove the floodgate personally, before Ast drowned, and face the torrent of water myself...

The raging torrent blasted me back against the wall, and poured out into the abyss central to the Stairwell of Sorrow.
Many cats died from the water washing them into the abyss, but fortunately no dwarves.

It was all, unfortunately, too late for Ast, who drowned while the Cistern was still emptying.
It didn't mean the task of emptying it did not have to be done, however, since nobody wants to bathe with a corpse gazing up at them.

We also had to recover the artifact from within the cistern.

Captain's Log. 27th of Granite.
The Cistern is very nearly empty, we should be able to retrieve the amulet, and of course Ast's body, very soon.
Then there's the matter of having to wait for the tomb level to dry out, since it is at the bottom of the stairwell.

Unfortunately, today saw one of our oldest guards, Nil Wanderstandard, go mad.
Nil has only one functioning lung, and this has been the case for many years, so I was interested in what could finally make him crack.

Turns out it was the loss of a beloved pet, his pet kitty cat.

Oh dear.

He simply walked into the pool of the Great Hall, drowning himself.
We unfortunately have no way to drain this, since its waters reach down to the tomb level. How ironic that this is where he should come to rest?
We shall now be forced to see his body rot down there. How regrettable.

Captain's Log. 2nd of Slate.
The goblins finally left today, though we barely noticed it.
How strange that the siege should become such a backdrop for tragic circumstances.

Additionally, how strange that we have had no immigrants in many years?

I went to talk to BurnedToast about this.

He told me that the problem was a lack of any meaningful goods being produced. For a long time we've been relying on goblin loot to purchase what we need, but we seem to largely be an importer, and one with far too much hauling and far too little production.
For this reason, and also the constant sieges, monsters, skelks, suicides, and whatnot, nobody wants to come here.

There must be a way to rectify this.

(I suggest you start making goods...maybe just sell some rock blocks...or goods...you seem to have an abundance...)
Also if this works can I get a dwarf?
Male, anything noncentral combat and non miner (noncentral means not front line)
Rhynac,(proper name)Fisher(<--profession title)

Get him a sword if you can...

Captain's Log. 20th of Slate.
It seems that even in times of trial, Baron Lorn and his wife find the time to make more nobles.
Another boy, this one named Etur. In the old tongue, this means Boulder.
How appropriate, a noble named after a useless lump of rock.

This made me laugh out loud. I just imagined taking a bath and turning around to see a glossy-eyed corpse staring at you :P

Captain's Log. 16th of Limestone.
Yet another attempt by the Goblins to besiege us.
Unfortunately, Nagash II is in bed, resting off a sparring injury.

Unfortunately, Nil the engraver was outside the walls, and was promptly shot to death.

Akroma was shot through the heart whilst firing from the battlements. He stumbled to his death a few feet from where he was shot, his limbs flayed out in all directions.

Erendor managed to drive off the group who were responsible, but it was, of course, still too late for Akroma.
The situation is so dangerous that even I took up the crossbow for a while.

Captain's Log. 7th of Sandstone.
We have prevailed once more.
My only regret is that Akroma's killer could not be slain in turn.
I'm sure he'll return next year, though. They always do.
