Just letting you know that progress is being really slow at the moment due to the festivities, and other events that go together with festivities.
I'm posting every now and then, but I can't really pick up the pace to normal levels until mid next January.

Captain's Log. 26th of Felsite.
With things proceeding, figuratively, quietly, we've been keeping busy in the deeps, excavating traps, and bypasses to those traps.
Currently, rooms for the removal of water from one of the barriers to the entrance of the tomb is being constructed.

Ultimately, the goal will include the following passage.
1. The Entrance to the Labyrinth, a test of knowledge over brute force.
2. The Path through the Labyrinth, sure to cause any average thief to disappear forever.
3. The Collapsing Tower, with it's destruction and rising flood waters being the end of any thief getting so far.
4. The Room of the Crushing Choice, with it's great slabs of stone, with a lever for every stone, it will take extraordinary luck, or knowledge, to know the correct lever in order to progress to the next room.
5. The Path of Spiteful Dwarves. One false step would surely be the end of any thief so adventurous as to make it this far.
6. The Lake. The final barrier to entrance, a lake. Deep within its freezing waters, the method to draining it, and the method to opening the final doors.
7. The tomb itself. While we have yet to decide what to place here, the consensus is generally the captured Skelks.
8. The Way Out, via a spiked pit, with bridges only accessible from the side of the Tomb. It leads out into the false tomb.

Captain's Log. 14th of Hematite.
It seems like every major project has its share of interruptions from these strange moods that afflict us at random.
Having personal knowledge of what they are like does little to assist in finding the cause, however.

This time, though, work was not particularly interrupted in the deeps. Instead, Xotes was the one to report to me. Apparently one of her planters, Dalrobin, was so afflicted.
He has claimed a crafts workshop, and begun amassing his materials.

I checked his profile and work history. Nothing to suggest he should begin acting this way. Most curious.

Brilliant work! Your story single handedly convinced me to register an account - all to thank you for the entertainment.

Keep up the GREAT work.

Captain's Log. 19th of Malachite.
BurnedToast came to see me this morning. He told me that Dalrobin is still sitting in his workshop, sketching pictures of the things he still needs.
He suggested it may be glass the poor dwarf was after.
I told him I'd take care of it, and shortly after I ordered some passerby dwarf to make some glass.

So I'm spending a fair amount of time with young Dalrobin, fully armed and armoured, just for safety.
I know from personal experience there's no chance to talk him out of his obsession, so we'll just have to do what we must, come what may.

Captain's Log. 1st of Galena.
The first we knew of it was the screams of rage.
Tulon, the dwarf sentenced to three hammerstrikes for a crime he did not commit, had gone mad, and was intent on taking as many of us into the afterlife as he could.
It appears that his mind had finally snapped.

His first act was to murder Baron Lorn's favourite cat, followed swiftly by a horse belonging to the late-Ingish Kogansakrith, a lady murderer long since dead. Clearly the horse maintained some attachment to her, however.

Fortunately, Adalore was on hand to prevent any loss of dwarven life, and investigated the screams with Vanon at his side.
They ventured into the prison, and Adalore dealt with the problem in an expedient manner. He was quite challenged by the excellent plate mail that Tulon was still wearing, however, and was glad to know his own would stand up just as effectively in battle.

Captain's Log. 5th of Galena.
We all have to take a break sometimes, and while I was on one, Dalrobin finally snapped.
Fortunately not into a violent rage.
Instead, he began running around babbling, and tearing off all his clothes.

I can't help but wish that he had turned violent instead.

Captain's Log. 6th of Galena.
Dalrobin is dead.
He ran, in his madness, into the large, open space, that constitutes the center of the great stairwell.
An eleven story drop does little good for a body, and now his is in several pieces.
It is for the best, however. Better that he die quickly than linger until he fades away. He has also done us the service of placing his body very close to where he will be interred.

The Cap'n, always looking at the bright side of falling down an 11 story stairwell.

Keep the good work coming!

I've noticed you don't get many immigrants anymore. Why? You'd think as your fortress prospers you'd get higher numbers.

To be honest, I have no idea.
It's not like I don't export sheer masses of things, I don't have the population capped at low levels, there's plenty of beds.

Possibly it has to do with the amount of work being performed in the fortress.
