Also, Nist Akath is starting to have an update schedule similar to Dwarf Fortress! The only difference is DF will never be complete.

Turn voice off, and it works rather well.  An FPS doesnt really need that much bandwidth for gameplay.  Voice chat, however, does.

I play with voice chat. On the highest graphics quality settings.

Graphics quality has absolutely nothing to do with network lag, or ping.  In fact, unless you have way too little connection bandwidth available, the only thing that influences lag is your location, your ISP, and the server location.  So there is very little you can do about it, the signal is still gonna travel at the speed of light, slowed down only by routers, and the time it takes for each computer to translate the signal.

Don't forget that incident with the cabinet: it was a heavy, blunt object -- probably counts as a hammer.

I'm pretty sure the game registers that as unarmed combat. Which is ridiculous.

You know, I assumed that was just you being colorful with your description.  I was not aware it was actually possible to beat someone to death with furniture in DF.

I just read the thread in one sitting.  I should probably sleep now - being that's it's almost 9:00 AM. (I don't recall when I started reading...)

Aside from the bump, I must compliment Mayday on your fantastic writing skills and the longevity of this fortress. I'm still not even close to finishing the whole thing yet, and I don't know if you're still accepting dwarves, but if you are:

As I understand it, it sometimes gets too hot for him to use his computer(or something like that.  at the very least, heat indirectly causes lack of update).  It should be summer (or close to it) in the southern hemisphere now, so that could be the case as well.
