Oh Bullion, the water related tomb trap will be horrific enough without having to resort to undead fish.  :D

Although I couldn't be sure, I would think skeletal animals would stay around, especially if they were locked in cages. But who knows how these things work.  Sometimes Toady isn't so sure himself.  If he did, there'd be no need for bug fixing.

it would be pretty cool if you could somehow get the water to freeze after it's released, forever encasing the tomb and tomb robber in ice.

in fact, you can

you simply have to remove the ceiling
as soon as it is labeled outside, it will freeze, at least on the surface

oh god, that would be awesome

Hesitris the Blue was the victim this time though I don't know why anybody would assault a brewer. The poor fellow is quite the mess.

I don't hold out strong hopes for a recovery.</STRONG>

D'oh! Guess I shouldn't have asked about my character and let him stay under the cover of obscurity. XD  How bad off am I?

Well, you have a red upper body wound, a yellow lower body wound, you're very drowsy and dehydrated. You've recently been starved, and despite this you're not unhappy.

Of course, you're filthy with cats all over, your clothes are slowly rotting off, and you're in bed with another dude, also an invalid, but who is starving, dehydrated and miserable.

There are plenty of unclaimed empty beds around...

The Journal of BurnedToast. 18th of Slate.
I've taken over running the fort for a while. The Captain has disappeared into the depths for some time now, though I'm told something covered in muck, vaguely shaped like him, sometimes surfaces for food or beer.

I believe he's just working on another crazy project. Oh well, at least it keeps most of us employed.

We received a new tax collector, with several other migrants today.
I sat him for his personality profile, as the Captain does insist, and I'm unhappy with the results. His inability to handle stress, his impulsiveness and aggressiveness, combined with his traditionalism and trust issues, will probably place him firmly in the Baron's pocket.

Such a pity.

Among the handful of souls we received, were the following:

Furthermore, we received some internal 'recruitments' into the military.

The Journal of Baron Dirty. 27th of Slate.
My plan to avoid the Elf Diplomat until it either went away, or went and bothered Ironblood has not succeeded.

In graceful failure, I deigned to meet with the heinous thing once again.

And once again it displayed the usual nonsensical madness.

I figured we could agree to not cut down any of our lovely trees.
I think this is one Elf who has been licking a few too many pixies.

The Elf went on to say that they would allow us to 'butcher' up to 34 trees this coming year.

I agreed to this readily. Thirty four trees is thirty four more trees than actually exists around here, but I was clearly dealing with a maniac.

Then he mocked my height and said farewell. My loathing for their kind just went up a notch, but diplomacy always comes first, so I took it with good grace.

I'll have a peasant beaten later to lift my spirits, I think.

I'd like to take another dwarf, if possible. Psycho didn't have much time in this wonderous fortress.

Name: Keller, Female
Preferred profession: Farming ( How can I die in the first month of my occupation by farming? I'm sure i'll find out soon )

that is eerily like me.

The Journal of BurnedToast. 20th of Felsite.
Hesitris finally snapped. Whether it was from his wounds, or all the cats, or being in bed with another man for over a year, it remains to be considered.

He is currently crawling around the halls, babbling.
At least he's kept his clothes on.

He seems content, in a crazy sort of way, if he's sitting amongst furniture. He's laid out next to a load of skull totems, covered entirely in cats.

Still no sign of the Captain returning to normal duties, so I'm still stuck doing his job.

On the bright side, doing his job is a lot easier than doing what he's doing, down in the very depths of this place.

I try to go down there as little as possible. I don't know how he does it.

Heh. Thanks for giving the Baron a voice. Now, if he only could get a nice tomb as well - one that he cannot get out of...

Wow. What a way to go. Rather than dying to an epic beast or other heroic method, I got beaten down by a crazy and ended up going loony myself. At least I didn't throw a tantrum and perpetuate the mess. O.o

And there needs to be a better way of capping the cat population aside from killing off all the females. What a mess. XD
