Hesitris would be on the Captain's side, though he'd be rather quiet about it.

"Ain't none of my business. I just tend to the fields as need be, and make some booze once we get the barrels fer it. And tend to these cats... Dunno why so many cats decided to start followin' me around. I mean, I like 'em and all, but... This is a bit much."

Captain's Log. 14th of Moonstone.
The goblins have returned, as we knew they eventually would.
I've recalled everybody inside while we decide what to do about it.

I asked Xotes and Hesitris into my office to talk about supplies.
Xotes tells me at our farming capacity, and our current stockpiles, we will never run out of food.
Hesitris likewise tells me we will never run out of booze. At least not for a significant amount of time.

Good news there at least.

Our main problem is that basically we have a near infinite supply of junk that others love to buy for some reason, and if the traders can't get here, we can't pawn it off on them for far more than its actually worth.

Of course, we don't get any more nobles trying to butt in here, either.

I'm conflicted about whether I want the goblins to stay or not.

Captain's Log. 16th of Opal.
The battle is joined. From behind our walls.
I was busily manning the catapults, personally, while Nagash II bravely shot bolt after bolt at King Song's personal squad.

We felt sure that if we could at least terrify Song, the siege would be broken too.

Wow first character in this game and I get killed off before I do anything significant.  This time I want to be a siege operator.  If you don't need any more siege operators, then put a mace in my hand.

Captain's Log. 4th of Obsidian.
A costly victory, and not much of a victory at that. Some of our guards went to try and recover one of our marksdwarves, who had been slain by Song himself.

Song shot, unerringly, at them, filling them with bolts, even through the narrow slits in our walls.
Quite the shot, old Song.

Happily for us, this means he wasted all his ammunition on others, and we launched a stronger assault on him and his guard.

We completely wiped out his guard, but Song managed to drag himself out of range, badly wounded, but still alive.
The siege remains unbroken as well. It appears we shall have to weather this storm a while longer.

One of the first injuries in the siege was caused by yet another criminal.
Hesitris the Blue was the victim this time though I don't know why anybody would assault a brewer. The poor fellow is quite the mess.

I don't hold out strong hopes for a recovery.

Captain's Log. 10th of Obsidian.
We have driven off two of the four goblin squadrons plaguing us, but I am feeling peculiar.

A need. A GREAT NEED! To shut myself away... and create!

A Masons workshop... I need it!
Magnetite... I need it!
Uncut Onyx... I need it! Lots of it!
Uncut clear tourmaline, too!
Zinc bars!
Trifle Pewter bars!
Bismuth bars!
The shell of a turtle!

IT WILL BE CREATED!!!!

The Journal of BurnedToast. 14th of Obsidian.
I worry for the Captain. He has the symptoms of the madness.
Well... of the madness that has claimed so many of our craftsdwarves.

He has been rampaging through the halls, stealing whatever he needed, and has now locked himself away, shunning all visitors and food.

Uh-oh, This sounds bad. Real bad.
Hope you get the materials.
I would like to join again, Demosthenes, a Female Hammerdwarf or Macedwarf, which you have.

Oh, man. This is, indeed, quite bad.
Zinc bars? Is that even possible?
If the Captain dies, I fear he will strike down all of Nist Akath in his death throes.

and so, our beloved captain will find his end

then again, he is so extreme, he might as well smash enough buildings to get over it

Before walling up the workshop, find some way to get the Baron in the same room with him.  Have the showdown we've been waiting for.

Of course if the Captain just wants to have his rampage and topple the whole fortress, be sure to make a video of the whole procedure.

Considering all the material that's required, I was wondering what he would actually make.

we'll never know...

no way the caravan can be quick enough for him to get his materials

at least he has a royal tomb, right ?

if not, make it royal

he deserves the best burial of them all

There wouldn't happen to be a legendary consoler/pacifier in the fortress is there?  How do you even train those skills?  I demand Toady put a psychiatric ward building in a future release.
