Captain's Log. 28th of Opal.
BurnedToast and Xotes ran into my office.
"TITAN!" screamed Xotes, "IT'S A TITAN! DON'T LET IT EAT MY BABY!"
At that I demanded BurnedToast to slap her. She was clearly hysterical.
She doesn't have a baby!

But the more pressing matter at hand was, of course, the Titan, come to visit us.

Of course, he may just want to be friends. It's always possible.

I went to the gate to spy out this visitor.
I have to admit, I couldn't control myself. I laughed so hard I nearly burst.
He was naked.

Totally naked.

I turned to my citizens.
"THAT?" I asked them "is what terrifies you so!?"
I had hoped my jeering would bring them to their senses, but it seemed not. They just wrung their hands and nodded.
I shouted that he was naked. That he would probably freeze to death if we just sat back and did nothing.
Seeing their doubtful faces I gave in.
I decided that I would either slay the thing, or drive it off.

"I shall dismember it's member!" I cried. I was particularly proud of that line.
But nobody got it.

It was then we noticed it moving towards us. I ordered everyone back inside. Their safety was at stake.

The monster and I regarded each other. It had size, and I had something else.
An axe. Also I was, at that time, possibly the most putrid specimen of a dwarf ever to be seen.

We charged at each other, screaming bloody murder.

In the end, only I remained. Sitting atop a very large corpse.
I got a little more blood on me I think, though really at this point it's become difficult to tell.

That was a most excellent showing. I do hope i'll be able to view more in the future... and perhaps be able to keep some " trophies " in my room. Haha.

Holy crap. The Captain is one guy I do NOT want to mess with. Not only would it be extremely gross, he could rip the head off a dragon and shove it up it's own arse without a scratch.

That could happen... except for the following entry.

Captain's Log. 10th of Obsidian.
They died while I slept. I was tired after my battle with the Titan, and retired to bed.
It proved a costly luxury.

My citizens, eager to go about their business outside and be done with it, encountered several groups of Skeletal Elks.
BurnedToast acted in my steed, sending out our forces to take them on.
Unfortunately, we were too late for a number of them.

The death toll includes.
Zon Melbilsheget, a tanner.
Edem Kadolegdoth, a butcher.
Psycho Solonid, a Miner/Mason.
Lorbam Beregen, a Mason.
Teldin Bistokkol, a Miner.

They were slain before the rescue teams could be organised.
It seems yet more fall in the shadow of Nist Akath.

As I woke, I joined them on the field. Never have I seen them come in such numbers. They are an endless wave, and their bones clatter to the ground nearby even as I write this for posterity.

I must note that Adalore, in particular, showed great courage in the battle. According to Exoleet, he may soon be worthy of leading his own squad, if we survive the onslaught.

Captain's Log. 15th of Obsidian.
The Mimic is dead. He was mobbed and crushed by skeletal hooves as I rushed to save him.

All I could do was avenge him.

We need to dig more graves.

Captain's Log. 22nd of Obsidian.
The Antlered Menace nearly had Vanon today.
He managed to destroy one, before the rest mobbed him, and he cried out for help.
His cry alerted Adalore, who in turn alerted me.
We joined the battle and faced the threat. We joined the battle and faced the threat.

I'm pleased to announce happy tidings for once.

Captain's Log. 23rd of Obsidian.
Another day, another bout of insanity. This time, it wasn't one of mine.
An injured miner, resting in the barracks, suddenly erupted, from sleep, into a berserk rampage.

As he was in the barracks, however, there are usually dwarves there who can deal with that sort of behaviour.
This time, however, was different.
Ignoring the peacefully sleeping Nagash II, he crept from his bed, dragging himself across the floor.

I discovered him seething in the hallway as I went to get a drink.

Problem. Solved.

Captain's Log. 1st of Granite.
It's the first day of spring. Heralding the coming of what I like to call 'Those filthy pointy eared bastards'.
Recently they've been okay. Possibly because I'm far more dangerous than anything else they've met on the way through.

Especially for them.

At any rate, I've been far too preoccupied battling the antlered menace, keeping it from harming our workdwarves as they build the fortress walls to keep them out, to worry overmuch about Elves, or trading.
We've now got enough beds for everyone I think, so even if they bring wood, we don't need it desperately yet.
They'll be giving me a good deal this year I think. Oh yes, a bloody good deal.

Captain's Log. 14th of Granite.
The Elves arrived.
We didn't get off to a good start.
When they came over the hill, the first thing they saw was me.
At the time, I had just smashed the last of a group of Skeletal Elks, which are, by the by, quickly gaining the moniker of 'Skelks', into a large rock. Where it exploded.

They looked worried as I pointed them to the trading depot.
They pointed out some actual, living Elk nearby, praising their beauty.
I agreed, saying it was a nice change from the undead sort. They smiled. It seems even Elves don't like the undead.

I must admit, brutally slaughtering living Elk is a completely different experience.

For diplomacy's sake, the entire episode took place behind a wall.
I don't believe Elves can see through walls.

Captain's Log. 21st of Granite.
Adalore advised me that the Skelks are gone for the moment.
In their place, a Skeletal polar bear.
I had not had to face one of these in some time.

I have clearly developed in skill. Whereas once they were a challenge, they are now only slightly more difficult than the Skelks.

A child pulled me aside today. He asked me why it was so white outside.
I told him that everything was covered in snow.
He asked me what was below the snow.
I told him that bones were below the snow.

This is Nist Akath. This is where the undead come to find rest.
This is where they come to find my kindly axe.

I found myself singing as I fought today.

Nist Akath.
Atast Osod.
Nukad Umid, Kobem Nokor.
Arged Shimbil, Atol Nosim Tat Zilir Rash.
Atol Nosim Tarmid Libash.
Dumur Shasad, Osal Okbod.

Fear the Winter.
Brave the Bones.
Victims fall, to the troubled dead.
The sons of bitches find the kindly touch of eternal death.
They find the kindly blade of my axe.
The haunting melody, it sings their doom.

Captain's Log. 28th of Slate.
Worst. Day. Ever. This includes all those times that lots of dwarves died.

Today, for some reason, we received a Tax Collector, Hammerer, and a Baron.
Apparently we've been made a Barony.

HOW NICE!

A whole slew of actual, useful dwarves arrived with them. More backs for working. Gods know there's enough work to go around.

It's this nobility thing that has me worried.

We've always been sort of out of the way. Forgotten.
Left alone.

Now, we'll be interfered with on a daily basis.
This is my reward for not letting us all die. I have to deal with the Nobility.

No sooner did they get in the gates than they began demanding things.
Typical. Undoubtedly they will refuse to be quartered on the same level as the commonfolk.

It was about that time that the bowyer went mad, claimed a bowmaker's workshop, and started demanding stuff like raw crystal glass.
Yeah, that's going to happen.
I put a guard on to watch him.

Along with the nobility, we received:
1 Potash maker.
1 Soaper.
1 Milker
1 Gemcutter
1 siege operator
1 Bone carver

I must admit I am surprised there were no peasants this time.

Thanks for the rescue! As for the spinal injury, it's just a scratch, I can stay on the fortress guard, I swear!

Wow. Soloing a Titan. Uncanny. Try that stuff on adventure mode, and you'll be dead quicker than you can say "giant cave spider." But for the Captain? Just another day in the life.
Where was Kinneus during the Great Skelk War? Helping out? Or still in jail?
