Well, it does seem a coïncidence that the [LEVEL] of food_items is equal to the number of ingredients needed. There is no [LEVEL:1]
I wonder if setting [LEVEL:10] would do the trick.

I'd try it right now, but my current mod already seems to be screwing up a comunity game.

After reading this whole thread, I've been left speechless on how awesome this is. I'm new to the forum but I'm quite familiar with DF and getting used to the new version .

So I guess this new forum has a lower posts per page count because I swear this thread was at 70 or 80 pages a while ago.

You can modify it in your profile. I have set it to 50 posts per page so this is just page 38 for me.

Captain, my Captain:
You don't belong on page two.

It annoys me that important DF people have this thing called a 'life.' They always seem to use it as an excuse to stop writting. Furthermore,

Actually, Captain Mayday is just waiting for the new release to better tell the adventure tale. But I totally understand your point. Life is for people too weak for Dwarf Fortress.

Toady sacrificed himself to Armok to gain the power needed to create DF.

And that was only the core. He has to sacrifice thousands of sentient lives every day to keep it running.
