In that case, I'll share a couple other surprises I found when adventuring, just in case they're useful to you:  First, it seems bridge-lever connections become instant when you're in adventure mode, regardless of the quality mechansims used.  Second, a door operated by a lever can still be bashed down or picked.  If you want to stop an adventurer with a lever-operated obstacle, use a floodgate or raising bridge.

Also, since I haven't mentioned it yet, excellent story.  Seventy-odd pages of pure awesome.

Well, I just finished reading all 73 pages. Congratulations for winning so very much, Mayday.

Also, is Ironblood's wife might have a bigger plot-related role later on?

Melica likes helping others...and she is immodest...
What an... interesting combination.

Edit: for some reason her name is not under human or dwarven. Did you make that up?

No update quite yet, though why not take the opportunity to have a play with my Legendary Lands mod? It'll form the backbone of the adventure section, and I'd be interested in your comments.

Here

Currently looking to expand upon the number of available POWER creatures, but apart from that, things are looking very good.

The mod thread is Here.

Be prepared for a much harder game.

Just had to drop this in in tribute of all the awesomness this thread entails.  I paid homage to the Captain by bringing him into the latest game of Tacticus:

<STRONG>Due to the fact that two megabeasts have been in play (the dragon and the colossus) I evoke the  rule "He goes where he is needed, or whereever the hell he wants to" from page 27 of the Nist Akath expansion ruleset.  This allows Captain Ironblood, under my control, to spring out of ambush next to the dragon.  Unfortunately, this also brings one of each megabeast into play for every player who has not already placed a megabeast (Ironblood counts as a megabeast) according to the "Give them a fighting chance" rule from Nist Akath revised rulebook, page 27 subsection A (added when players started complaining about the Captain's uberness).

The Captain, brandishing his cabinet of course, gives the dragon one chance to flee before taking any other action.  Also, according to the "You think he cares about kobolds?" rule (Nist Akath expansion, page 27 subsection B) kobolds are the only unit that the Captain doesn't cause terror in (megabeasts included), and that's only because the Captain wouldn't waste his time on kobolds.

um, every fantasy book, movie, and game I have seen says that human/elf offspring are called half-elves

btw great story, I am not good at dwarf fortress, never have been, but it is still fun reading the stories other players come up with.
