BurnedToast's Log. 17th of Timber.
Tbe Captain returned today. His head was gashed open. I could see his brain.
He seemed remarkably placid about it though.
I on the other hand, was not.

When I asked if it had been the elk, he just said, and I quote:
"Nawwwww. Was a bearrr. Boney Bear. Heh. Bonny Bear. Big teeth."

A skeletal polar bear.
I asked him if he destroyed it. He just looked at me and said. "Nawww."
He wanted to go back out there. To take comrades this time.
Gods help me, I sent a squad with him.
And this time he took an axe.

The dwarves with him are Eden, Sula, Exoleet, and Kinneus.
All proven in combat,  true, but not against this sort of foe.

BurnedToast's Log. 23rd of Timber.
Fortunately, my fears did not materialise.
All returned safe and sound. From the stories, the Captain wrestled the bear to the ground, allowing the others to strike at it with impunity. The only serious injury was Kinneus's broken arm, which will heal in time.

BurnedToast's Log. 10th of Moonstone.
The Captain is at home for recuperation from his recent forays.
I visited him.

It was madness.
At first, he seemed normal again. Tired, but normal.
"BurnedToast, my old friend. Come closer." he said.
He told me that the elk kept coming. That something had to be done to keep them out.
"I can't fight them forever." he said.

Then he outlaid his plan.
It was madness. He planned to build a tower. Into the sky. Like Humans!
I told him that we are dwarves, and not given to such endeavours. But he scoffed, and said we could do anything.

While I admire his determination, I can't help but worry for the lives of the workers.

BurnedToast's Log. 5th of Opal.
I had an interesting chat today, with one of the peasants.
Seems his name was not 'Adil' at all. Seems his true name is 'Nagash the second'
He is the son of our late friend, and he wishes to destroy the undead who slew his father.

I'm giving him the chance to exact vengeance.
He's now part of the military.

Captain's Log. 26th of Opal.
I'm beginning to think clearly again. My most recent entries appear to be madness.
I can only attribute my clarity to the strike against me by our woodcrafter, Thob, during our third meeting to discuss her behaviour.
First she was throwing stuff, and I talked to her about that. She had a good cry on my shoulder, and I thought that would be that.

Then she left and immediately punched a mule in the face.
I had another talk with her. More crying.

This third time, she actually attacked me in the meeting.
She. Attacked. Me.

I've thrown her in prison for the next month to think about her actions.

BurnedToast's Log. 26th of Opal.
The Captain somehow seems to be thinking a little clearer.
Earlier today though, he had a chat with one of our citizens. He came out of his office with blood on his arm.
She came out with a broken arm.
when I asked what had happened, he looked at me and said "She started a fight she couldn't win. She's lucky I don't walk around armed at the moment."

Captain's Log. 27th of Opal.
My attacker was officially arrested today.
She was in the party hall at the time. Foolishly, she resisted arrest.
The guard beat the tar out of her, before dragging her limp body off to rot in a cell.
Sentence has been increased to 101 days.

Rapidfire updates FTW! Very fun to read though, I was kinda worried that the Captain went insane, but I was proven wrong, which is good.

I was like, ha, this looks like a pretty dumb and boring game. I was so wrong. Gentlemen, I have discovered true fun.

Captain's Log. 19th of Slate.
Migrants.
It'll make the going easier.
I must admit, in previous years, I've been worried for their safety.
Now though... Now that I myself am strong enough to take on entire herds of the antlered ones by myself, I worry less.

And there's much work to do, with few backs available to do it.
Today we received:
1 Tanner
1 Woodcutter
1 Carpenter
1 Furnace Operator
1 Weaponsmith
1 Butcher
1 Fisherdwarf
1 Fish Dissector
2 Craftsdwarfs
1 Trapper
1 Dyer
1 Mason
1 Grower
1 Brewer
1 Child
4 Useless peasants.

The mason was kind of a weird one. Kept looking at me funny on the way in.

Captain's Log. 25th of Slate.
The Elven traders came, and left. I no longer think they and the Elk are in collaboration. That would be madness.

Our new population is at 95. That's great. I don't know why these people come here to die, but hey, if I'm going down, I want others to do so with me.

In bad news, my insane demand for Black Bronze items went ignored.
Unfortunately, despite my knowing the insanity of it, I cannot unsign a mandate once signed.
Thusly, I must punish... Sigun the Metalcrafter.
51 days in prison!

Thanks. It's good incentive having people post in the thread.
Don't feel you can suggest stuff, though. Insanity like the Captain's demands a lot of ideas.

How many dead dwarves do we have now in total? heh. seems like every post someone gets mangled if not killed outright! Are Xotes and I (and the captain of course) the only ones left from the originals?

Glad to hear the captain got better, I don't want to be the ruler - I like my cushy noble job sitting at a desk counting things!

lets hope we get some black bronze before we get a hammerer   ;)
