Some of your soldiers must have "Doesn't really care about anything anymore" by now.
"Gosh that's a shame"
"What?"
"Someone's going to have to lug those two to the graveyard. Nice socks though"

I know you get piles of positive reviews, but I'll throw my two cents in as well.

This is an exceedingly well-written story.  I'm a fanfiction writer myself, but for cheesy superhero cartoons and the like, over on fanfiction.net.  Anyway, The political intrigue, the convincing and realistic character motivations, and the fact that basically all of this could easily happen in-game all combine to make this a very good story and an enjoyable read.

I did like the poor Thresher coming in to announce his artifact Oaken Ring at the end of the near-coup.  Heh.

Anyway excellent story.

There is a kind of conspiracy theory mindset to this narrative.  Wait, the mayor got replaced and the new one is one of the soldiers?  Hmm, there must be a shadowy figure behind this.  Every event has a cause somewhere if it can just be figured out.  It's fun, but also the sense that a few dwarves are behind the machinations and that the majority of the dwarves are just there to do their job and try and keep out of trouble adds atmosphere.  This is one of the stories I look forward to.

Damnably good. I should be asleep recovering from my beating, yet I'm still up due to your mercilessly good writing. Damn it man, think of my sleep patterns when you begin writing this stuff! Its not as if I can stop myself when I begin!

Also, Skizelo, I was hoping to use part of that quote as a signature, that alright?

Hey folks, I just wanted to say that due to some real-life stuff that's popped up, I probably won't get to part IV for a couple weeks.  Sorry about that.  But hooray for new forums!

Well, I still will wait, as this has been a very great story so far, and I wouldn't want to miss it. Also, I haven't played DF in a while and now I have a reason to again.

A story with the same quality of a masterwork aluminium statue decorated with spikes of gold and engraved masturfully with trout bones.

Keep up the good work :D

AlmostEverywhere, you make the random string of events, controlled by the whim of the RNG, appear as a concise novel with a carefully planned plot. Chapeau, good sir, and keep it up, I'm thoroughly enjoying this story.
