Use the points of interest for reference. Keep all ideas in this thread. Also, I figured out that the very edge of the aquifer layer, the stuff on the outside of the cliff, can be dug away without consequence. Any further in and we have a flood on our hands.

I vote we put the bridge on z-19 and have it run straight across. Turn off cave-ins for a little while.

Cheats??? I might as well cheat my way through the aquifer, then.

It's possible. I know a way.

No, using the Dwarf Companion terrain alterer in order to remove the "damp" status from the sand I need to dig through.

Also, we need to pick a name. bigmcstrongmuscle wants Crystalveil, and I think that's cool.

And a group name... I also like bigmcstrongmuscle's idea, The Soaked Beards.

Discuss.

Either The Soaked Beards, or my personal favorite, The Soaked Beards of Drowning.

Try Zuglar Cabnul, The Ship of Fools, for either the fortress or group, too.

I like the idea of  "The Ship of Fools."  But if you can get a group name that references entertainers, that would be cool too.

Crystalveil is a cool name for a fortress.

Logbook, 1st of Granite, 1051:
It seems, after a long journey, we've arrived at the famous waterfall of the Eastenter River. Elves frequently take pilgrimages here, to admire its beauty. We're about to carve a fortress into it.

The fortress will be called Crystalveil, and our group is called (rather cynically) The Soaked Beards of Drowning.

As soon as we came here, Parrot launched an arrow into the water, hitting a carp. From the shock, or plain stupidity or something, the whole school of carp plummeted down the waterfall and died. I told Parrot to chase the rest of the fish that were in the upper river down the waterfall. He's a good shot with his crossbow.

Nevermind, he just wasted every shot on carp, pike, and longnose gar without getting a hit in, or chasing them into the waterfall. Now he's out trying to bash an alligator's skull in with his crossbow.

What? No, it's just typical dwarven stupidity. Why bother with a video?

Also, profiles. Look at the deity list for the Constructive Crafts, because I forgot to change the civ in my impatience.

The only important relationship things are these:
1. I and Parrot are lovers.
2. Geir has no friends.

I don't like to post relationship stuff when there's not much point in doing so, so make due with that.

Logbook, 13th of Granite, 1051:
Gilda and Kira have dug us a nice farming area, along with some (very meager) bedrooms. We have a craftsdwarf's workshop up and a carpenter's workshop, both of which are above ground. They'll have to do.

I've made some tower cap bolts, and Parrot has been shooting fish with them. We make a good team.

Just like in real life : <

Nah, not really. But still, it's kind of pathetic to have no friends.

Damn, breaking through an aquifer is really tough work. Out of the twelve squares we need to drain in order to get through the aquifer, I've walled up one. And the fact that I'll be away and unable to reach a computer from Wednesday night to Sunday morning won't help progress.

I would build a descending bridge, but that would cost a lot of our precious cobaltite, which is already being used at a steady rate (bridges cannot be built underwater. Falling water counts, it seems, so I have to use the "build floor" option which is quite ineffecient) for the "roof" over the (future) main entrance. Maybe I'll build a temporary construction down out of wood and cobaltite, then mine some stone, then use it for the main entrance.

Man, typing these my problems out gives me ideas on how to solve them.
