****BATTLE REPORT : Tengu vs. Valtans****
The rising moons were high above the horizon line. The reflections they caused on the seawater combined with the blood that had been spilled would have made any poet's imagination run wild. Those who had the best view of the scenery were not poets, however. They were soldiers. 140 Tengu soldiers were flying through the sky. A third of them was carrying a huge monolithic stone, covered with with runes and blood.
There was no need to be a priest or a wizard to feel the pulsating energy flowing out of it. The rage of a goddess was contained inside, pushing against its borders in a desperate attempt to get out of its prison.
The other Tengu were carying huge shields that would protect everyone from any kind of projectiles, especially that high into the sky. Flying in the middle of the formation was Madara himself, the supreme commander of all Tengu armed forces. He wanted to make sure that no-one would disobey his orders, like during the previous battle.
Finally they came into sight of the city, way below them. Like during the previous two attacks no movement could be seen below and the low light of the moons did not help in any way. Some steamgun pellets hit the army but bounced off the shields harmlessly. The army finally made it to the planned destination : right above the city center. There, Madara ordered the stone dropped. Once the stone was released, he ordered the the army to slowly move toward the fortress on the eastern side of the city, confident of the fact that the stone would be more than enough to wreak the place.
The stone fell, slowly at first as it seemed to Madara's troops, then gaining momentum until it finally hit the ground. Madara had been expecting a huge earthquake and he got it. The pulsating energy slowly freed itself from the stone, spreading sismic waves around it. Small at first, they slowly got faster and stronger. As Madara's soldiers liked to say it jokingly, though not within any priest's earshot, it was like "the wrath of the fucking earth goddess".
As the shock waves got stronger, the ground under the stone gave way and the stone fell through, into the city sewers and hit one of the firebombs the Valtans had stored there. Stored was probably not the best way to describe the arrangement of the firebombs. There were large clusters of these uner the city, and they were close enough to each other to trigger a chain explosion. The roar of the first explosions was mostly unheard by the Tengu, as it was toppled by the earthquake. In the same way they could not see the flames spreading upward and outward from the city center, breaking through the city's streets.
Eventually, though, Madara and his most trained soldiers saw sparks of flame dropping around them and looked behind. What they saw was a pillar of flame quickly speeding towards them. Madara did not take long to decide.
"Fly high! Fly fast! Flee !" was the shout he left out as he sped upwards and away from the city. His elite and veteran soldiers, trained to obey quickly and efficiently followed him. The untrained soldiers however, hovered on the spot, panicking. When they realized what was happening it was already too late. The flame engulfed them and burned them to a crisp, just like the defenders left in the city.
A few miles east of the city the Hopeful, the last warship of the Valtans -that had been hidden away during previous attacks- was sailing away from the battleground. Onboard were the last survivors of the Valtan race : 16 soldiers and 40 civilians who would rebuild their civilisation far from the Tengu. Flavvius was on the bridge, watching the pillar of flame soar high into the sky. He left out a sigh. Other Valtans were watching, some were crying, some were angry and all of them had lost something this night. A home, a friend, a family...
Eventually Madara made it out, alive and landed a fair way away from the city, exhausted. The pillar of flame stood there, lighting the night. No one who was not sleeping could not have possibly not noticed that. As he lay on the ground, out of breath, with the ground rumbling slower and slower, something landed next to him. The remains of a banner, singed by the heat. And on that banner were written the following words :

The terrain of the city has been turned into desert and the city into
ruins (at least the part that was not consumed by flames) though
