Kira had been enjoying the trek upriver and decided to make camp on the edge of a gigantic lake up ahead. The glassy surface of the lake reflected the clear sky and sunset on the horizon. After taking several minutes to enjoy the view, Kira constructed a makeshift tent with some rope strung between two trees. The sides were fashioned from of lots of small logs tied together and thatched with grass reeds for better cover.

When that was finished she grabbed her pole again and headed toward the lake to catch dinner.

The surrounding area had an unusual feel to it. If it wasn't for a deer that had walked up and begun to drink from the water's surface, then there might have been no animal life around here at all. Kira cast her line a good twenty feet out and relaxed on the soft sand of the beach. She admired the gracefulness of the doe as it drank and then reached back to grab her waterskin. A splash resounded though the air and her eyes darted to the only movement there was - ripples in the lake where the deer had been.

She quickly reached down and removed her obsidian dagger from the sheath on her waist and stared at the spot. What kind of fish was big enough to drag down a deer, she thought. There was nothing in the great lake in Koneko Valley that could have taken down a whole deer, at least nothing that could get that close to the shore... She kept the dagger in her hand and started reeling in the line.

She put her rod in her backpack and slowly backed up from the edge as a fox walked over to the lake. Just then, a large skeletal head emerged from the lake and engulfed the entire fox's head with its jaws, pulling it under the water.

Kira had to consciously remember to take a breath and backed up about twenty feet from the shoreline. She had heard stories from the Drogar of giant fish... "What were they called again... 'crap'? hmm, something like that. Whatever it was it obviously would not be good for my health." Walking back to her tent hungry, she thought about the appearance of it. It looked dead, being a skeleton and all. Yet, it couldn't have been, it must have been a trick of her eyes.
Nevertheless, something was wrong with that lake.

"Ter is too forgiving I think Issha. Either that, or very naive for his age." Vime commented offhandedly as he continued to watch the expansion of the roads thoughout the forest the two tendrils that extended from each outpost finally touching in a graceful way. The god of trade closed his eyes as if he could hear the cheers of his people as the last bricks were laid, pleasure filling his face. "Next time he may not be so lucky to recover his belongings."

"What was that?" Kara said as she sketched the ground below, her hand blackened from hours with the pen marking and remarking her canvas. Beletedly wishing she could take stop time for a moment to double check the shape of the ground below and ensure her maps were accurate.

With a furtive look she turned towards Dolak and his wife, the former obviously sligtly ill from the dips and swirls that the giant avien performed on the rising thermals that originated from where the cold sea met the warm land, turning her eyes away as the slightly green dracon began to retch into the bucket that he had brought aboard while his wife patted him on the back and encouraged him that this leg of the journy would still be over. Neither of them would be any help.

With a shuffle Kara left her seat and carefully walked over towards Erois, clinging to the gaurdrails of the travelling compartment as the avien made another swoop. Swapping Iten from one arm to another she sat across from the old warrior and pointed out the window to a small blot near a river delta far to the east. "What do you suppose that is?"

Cheers rang thoughout Aveceleba as the first merchant boats sailed though the water gate, their drivers waving glibly to the assembled crowd as they made their statly way towards the central keep. People were everywhere. Cheering in the streets, raining the flower petals of late spring from the arches that lined the street towards the central depot, and constantly bringing boxes upon boxes of goods alongside the shore. Every vulpin with something to sell or something to buy came out of their homes, racing towards the massive wooden keep that straddled the river.

As the first boats reached the palace, two vulpinans wearing the bright red shoulder knots that marked them as members of the mechanic's guild gave a shout from thier stations beside the river. Each one pulled the long wooden lever that dominated their station, bringing forth a great creaking and groaning as the main gates of Sileraivis, the palace of foutains, opened in a rush of water, leading into a wide harbor.

Quickly the boats were docked, their gleaming hulls shining in the sunlght that filtered down though many bright laquar skylights. The white light turned into a yellow amber. As their captains set down they were met by a Vulpin dressed in a luxurious fox-fur cloak. The russet red accenting his own greying fur. On either side of him four other Vulpi stood, each quite old and wearing a canny look on their face.

"Welcome!" The old Vulpin said, spreading his arms wide as his voice was met with a resounding cheer, "Welcome back to Aveceleba merchants. Long have you have travelled to our sister city and now you have returned to us with goods. the first shipment of many. We, the lords of Aveceleba, welcome you!"

Riet sniffed the wind.  There was rain coming, possibly quite a bit.  He scanned the horizon again; still no sign of another scout.  For some odd reason, this absence of contact was making Riet nervous.  Obviously, the Ipetinas had moved off to the east; otherwise, Reit would have seen them coming.  However, why didn't they send off a scout to tell Riet where they had gone?  They knew where he was.

Riet sighed, and moved over to Silis.  "Could I borrow that device you showed me a while ago?  The one with the two lenses.  You called it a tele... tele-something.

"Oh, you mean my telescope?"  Silis rummaged around in his bags and came out with the telescope.  "Certainly, just be careful with the lenses."

"Thanks," replied Riet, gingerly taking the telescope from Silis.  Carrying the strange device, he moved over to a nearby hill.  He stretched the scope to its full length, then peered through the end like Silis had shown him.  Sure enough, the little gadget still showed what was far away.  Riet pointed it to the east.  He could make out some sort of burnt grass along a fairly sizable portion of the plain.  Looking around it, he saw what remained of the fields, and knew that this was once a farming outpost.  It had been abandoned, and recently.  It was a little odd that the farmers hadn't taken more care to obscure their crops.  They must have left in a hurry.

Riet reasoned, if there are fields, then there must be a village somewhere nearby.  After quite a long time of searching through the telescope, he found it.  It was so far away that even with the telescope it was hard to see.  The only thing Riet could tell for certain was that there was movement.  It couldn't be the Ipetians, they had moved off.  This left only one possible explanation: the giants had cut them off.

Riet ran back to their campsite.  "Silis," he yelled, "bad news.  The Giants are in between us and the Ipetians.  There's no help coming for us."

"What do we do now?" questioned Silis.

"Fist off, we have to get away from those giants.  I'll give you and your men one hour to bury anything thats not essential.  We can come back for it later.  But don't think that time is a luxury we can afford; we need to move, NOW!"  The campsite erupted in a flurry of activity.

Within the hour, they were ready to move.  Riet addressed the group.  "We are currently a group on the move.  I've traveled this rout before.  Stick behind me, and the journey will go smoothly.  With any luck, we'll be far away by the giants reach this campsite.  There are only three rules for being on the move:  go as fast as possible, stop only when necessary, and outrun those giants!  Let's march!"  The Ipetian and the Roshanian quickly dashed off into the retreating sun.

Everything was going according to plan for Nietzsche.  Riet still had not been sighted.  There were some small dissident voices again, wanting to go back for their "leader," but Nietzsche continued to keep the group moving east.  Eventually, he would capitulate, and allow a search and rescue team to try to find a sign of the lost hero, though all they would likely find is a mutilated corpse.  Then Nietzsche would assume full responsibility, and he would give the people a performance they wouldn't forget.

Helesh was unhappy, very unhappy. Somehow he regretted having finished work on the walls. Now he had even more problems than just finding some stone. He knew it could only be a form of punishment from Shraal for either missing the walls deadline or the portals theory. A week ago Shraal had summoned him in his office -a very unusual thing- and said :

quote:
<STRONG>"Helesh, I think it is time for you to have more responsibilities. From now on you will be acting as the mayor of Shesh. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to leave the city for a while. Don't forget to prepare the city for Shadowfall."</STRONG>

Helesh didn't even know where to begin, but right now he was heading for his new office. As he entered the small meeting room which also served as the antechamber to his office, he noticed two familiar figures. Familiar because they had been pestering him for two days straight with their demands. One was the Clockmistress and the other the Weavemistress. Both were important people and both were really annoying.

Helesh sighed inwardly and greeted them.

===============================================================================

Shraal and Thlash were making headway towards the edge of the forest with Shel telling them where they would meet the cat-woman. They were very careful to avoid the giant spiders, and this was why, to an outside observer it would look like they were going in circles instead of a straight line.

They both had been careful with their choice of clothing and equipment. Both were wearing the long grey coat that was traditionnal -and utilitarian- for a Thelash. The coat also had a hood to protect its wearer from light, as contact with light was not something a Thelash's eyes were used to. Thlash had decided to take with him a rapier. Shraal also had a rapier under his coat and soe throwing knives as well, concealed in his boots and sleeves.

Finally they arrived to the edge of the forest and waited there, making sure to come out of the shadows whenever the cat-woman was close enough, to greet her.

Nothing really happens this turn.

It still takes one turn untill Madara's work is finished, and 2 turns untill the central temple for the godess in the southern mountains is finished

The outpost group had finally arrived to their destination after days of trekking through unfamiliar terrain. Hjolf, the eldest of the giants was pleased of this since his bones were already aching and with the authority he had, he commanded a house to be build for himself on the nearby forested outcropping. 4 of them hurried to start building a palisade and the rest of them began to build housing for the few giants there was right now. Hjolf  himself looked into the leafy pathways of the forest, and decided to take a little walk.

Some time later.
Hjolf kneeled down to his feet and looked around. There was a broken arrow on the ground. "hmh... I suppose i am not alone in this forest, these must be hunters own.." With that, he stood up and walked into nearby plateau, and made set up a small shelter there. Killing a deer that had wandered too near he then proceeded to light a fire and began roasting the deer. Its time to relax...

Ragndir was sitting around in the abandoned village, depressed by the fact that they had been left out of the bloodshed, and the cowardly beings who had lived here had taken everything worth anything. Not even a single coin had been found.
A lookout walked next to him "Rag, we've spotted some sort of movement to the west, should we go check it out before starting the journey home?"
Ragndirs spirits lifted somewhat "Movement? That could be someone... Alright! Disassemble the camp, we're going to give it a chase, thou if its too fast we'll give up. I trust we all want to go see what that storm was back home!"
The giants moved out with considerable speed.

Erois looked off in the direction Kara pointed, but couldn't make anything out.  "Sorry, I really can't make it out, I can't see as well as I used to." He reached for his pack but he didn't have any of his scouting equipment with him  other than a few personal items he kept for luck. He looked over at Dolak and was about to ask him if he could see it, but after noticing that he was preoccupied decided against it.

Erois was trained to combat monsters in the air, and the bird's movements seemed tame compared to the maneuvers he used to practice. Though it did take him a little while to get used to the motion when he wasn't pulling them himself, he didn't have nearly as much difficulty as Dolak was. "Isn't that about where your people were supposed to be setting up an outpost? Maybe that's it."

OOC) My messengers are trained. They are all single dracon carrying only a small hand crossbow for hunting, a small utility knife, and a lightweight portable shelter, no armor. They travel quickly but due to their size are easy to spot if they travel close to an aware enemy.  If captured they will be difficult to get information from verbally, but they carry detailed maps of their route.  These maps lack troop movements(unless it is their target in which case it indicates group size and movement direction.) and if given the chance the messenger will destroy them before capture.  They are trained in martial arts as they lack any real weaponry.  It can be assumed there are messengers always traveling between military groups and friendly cities.

((I've managed to incorporate five total races into the BotGII Mod now. Tengu, Vulpinan, Storm Giant, and Ipetian. I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out, although I'm certain that I got some things wrong. (The tengu worship demons right now because I wasn't sure what sphere's they would prefer with their gods. Storm giants are immortal because I forgot to give them maxage before genning the first standard world, etc.) The only hang-up seem to be the short lifespans of the vulpinan people, and the fact that i'm not letting any race have an indefinate lifespan. This leads to a ton of historical figures in world gen, many of whom are dead.

I'm added a number of larger weapons to the mod, including a Fullblade (Basically a greatsword so large a storm giant must use both hands), a rapier (a thin, very light sword that has 90 pierce damage), and the tengu-spacific Shakujo. Some new toys have also been added, and the tengu tokin is worn by 90% of their population.

It's still a long way from being 100% done, but there is definatly a start.

Here is a copy of the worldgen history. If anything strikes you as particularily odd let me know and I'll look into it.

(hmhm... ive actually been thinking this and that about stormgiants and if i should add something to their culture but onething ive come for certain. They Always prefer warhammers as weapons. I think i need to edit my first post a bit...)

edit: (Alright i added the new cultural weapon of stormgiants at the firstpage. Take note that none of the giants in the world currently have one of these, and probably wont have for quite some time.)

Total: 52 !!elves!! (the five others are spread out over the tunnels, hauling minerals or messages, or digging.)

((Fothacema continues east.
The tunnel continues into the mountain, and more random stuff is mined (there are a few elves, most notably Ilecaaye, digging and so but putting them on the map would just obscure it)
While travelling Fothacema builds and uses small green glass shelters to sleep in, and those are left behind every day or so, this may aid travellers on this route later very slightly and in any case makes a very strange and easily followed track.
There is slight growth in elves and a little more in infrastructure and knowledge. I hope their abilities justify refining titanium before inventing the wheel.))

((The Dreadmaul can be easily renamed into a thunderhammer and given the hammer skill with ease. I also underestimated the age of your giants (but not by much. I had them averaging around 400 years rather than 600.) Aside from that, I think I got most of them right. Unfortunatly, there is no way to force them to be patriachial or matriarchial. Leadership, as always, is passed down from parent to child regardless of gender. Perhaps once toady adds support I can change that.

As it is, Giant Heros are quite fun to play. They are so strong that they can send most creatures flying into walls and trees, exploding on impact. However, bows and crossbows have a tendancy to get mortal wounds on them pretty easily, even with multiple shields.

Wading through a sea of Ipetians was funny with my recent mace lord. His counterstrikes were maiming or killing three per frame on average. Quite pleasent.  :D))
