((Two ways to join us.

1. Go here : http://www.bay12games.com/chat.html
Then follow the instructions. Instead of typing '/join #bay12games' , type '/join #BotG'.

2. Download an IRC client. I suggest IceChat : http://www.icechat.net/site/index.php?irc-client=download&PHPSESSID=a27937d68505c8dfbff7ef76e66b25d8

Download, install and launch. the first time you launch it it should ask for a lot of info about you (i.e. : nickname, servers, channels...). Just click Cancel. Then click 'Favorite Servers' on the left of the screen. Click 'Add New' in the lower left part of the screen. That should open a new window.

Type 'irc.worldirc.org'. Click Next. Next again. Type #BotG. Click Next. Type your nickname. Click Next until you can't click Next. Click Save. That should close the window.

The new server should have appeared on the Favorite Servers under the name 'irc.worldirc.org'. Select it and click 'Connect' on the lower left part of the screen.

That's it, you should be connected after a few seconds.))

So, eh, I send a single scout out through the tunnel I finish this turn. Using forced march he reaches the rocky hills. Also, Erithnarum expands.

Anyways:

Events:
Erithnarum grows into a Village!
Tunnel System Alpha completed!

Projects:

Population:
Erithnarum
 51 Erithreaites
Total: 51 citizens

Characters:
Machinatus the Hidden One: [Erithrean Hero] Worshipped by all his people as the living embodiment of purity, this three-metres tall diamond-encrusted behemoth is the brains (and brawn) behind the Erithrean movement.

"Erithreaites do not cheer. Such behaviour would be dangerous in the Deeps, where the tiniest moment of lowered alertness can cost ones life. Still, when the first diggers breached the mountainside, there was still a clearly sensible atmosphere of joy in the Tunnel.
A single Erithreaite ventured into the open, with him the orders to go and find other lifeforms, some sorts of civilised beings. As his bulgy form disappeared into the horizon, Machinatus ordered the miners to expand the Tunnel, so as to allow more traffic.

Meanwhile, more of their race swam up the vent. Many brought with them all they had, for they had no intention of returning. Anything was better than life back down.

Among the newcomers was a relatively old Erithreaite. It was rumored he knew things that were Secret: skills his people had all but forgotten. His knowledge would surely be a boon to the village."

 - Letorithma -

Letorithma growed fast in the last 6 months. The farms were working well and the first Trawlers had brought the first 150 Parts of the Swimdock out into open water.

These Parts were hollow Betonblocks with 10 Metres side lenght which could be screwed together. These 150 blocks that are now swimming in the sea were so constructed that they could been flooded and pumped out at any time so that the entire dock could get tilted if needed.

Each of the 900 needed blocks consisted of 6 Steel and fiber reinforced Beton Plates wich were an half Metre thick.

Voledbora and Tuthlesno were now working as well and supply Letorithma with Stone and Wood.

- Karatomca -

"Why am i here Leam" hissed an annoyed Ter.
"Well if have to show you something. I think we dont need your warhawks here in Karatomca"
"You are a fool then. We dont have anything what is comparable to them and they are our only airforce."
"You think so? Ok tell me what this up there is."
"It looks like one of my warhawks."
"It is one. Guards let the first Phöenix fly."

An burning Bird shaped thing started from the Towerbase gathered Speed and attacked the Bird made from Metal. The Two creatures fighted and soon feathers from fire and Steel were falling out of heaven.

"Very impressiv Leam."
"Hmm we should finish this fight. I need this breeding pair. Let the Female out."
Another Phöenix started from the Towerbase and attacked the Warhawk too.
The two Firebirds finished soon the one made from metal which was falling with an loud "thumb" in the water of the Lake creating a huge fountain.

"This one is scrap metal now. I hope i can repair him." Said an sad Ter.
"I hope too. Your creature is as good as mine and has its own advantages. It needs no food or Living space for instance."

An red and Gold feathered Bird landed on the fortification. Her eyes were burning like Isshas Star itself.

"I thougt they burn everytime?"
"No they only do this if they attack or defend."
"How did you get them?"
"Well i modifycated an Hawk with very pure Fire-essence. Very soon after the Procedur  i gathered some blood from him which i had spilled on the eggs of an breeding pair. The results you have seen an minute ago."
"But this is only one set of eggs. Maybe four at all. This isnt nearly enought diversity for an entire Bloodline. And how did you get them so dammed huge?"
"I used in Total 20 eggs till now and it looks like i can use Sorims blood many times if i give him some essence first. The growth is related to the energy that is added to the eggs own energy but gets Transfered to the next generations. Torim himself is normalsized you have to know."
"How do you know that the Growth is transfered?"
"I used the timestoper to age one of Tanias and Horems ,that are the names of the two you have seen ,eggs this morning. They are near the hatching so it doesnt need much time. Anyway i lost all my essences by this experiment."
"Really? How much consumes it?"
"The consum is multiproportional to accelarition factor of time. By an factor +8 it consume 24 Times more energy then an slowing to an eighth part of timespeed."
"So what will you do now? Will you do more warcreatures?"
"Yes but i hope i find an an way to fast grow an good substitude for fish and maybe an self growing Buildingmaterial first"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Winjfountain-

"Any problems Yosh?" Asked Silis.
"Huh... Oh yes we have still problems to synchronisize the bubbles."
"Can you solve that problem?"
"Well i think we have done it already but we wait on the Glassmaker to produce our Synchronizers."
"So How long do you think you need for this project?"
"A little bit more then an Year sir. It isnt easy to make something that will work with your specifications."
"Good noone had said it would be easy. If you need something special say it. You can even have some more workers."
"No sir i dont need workers im fine with the 10 you already given me."
"Ok we will see us then next Month and i hope you solved that little synchro-problem till then."

((Sorry I've been out for a while.  Dwarfaholic, welcome!  Always good to have another player, what with people dropping out and all.  Four turns to make up.  Fortunately, nothing much happens except growth.))

Within the past year, Reit watched his students became well acquainted with the basic aspects of plainshaping.  Now all of them could easily grow a tree within a day, and Leef could manage two.  As each day passed, they became more and more adept at manipulating Life and bending Will.  Riet was saddened because he could not feel their actual progress; he could only see the results.  Life moved around him, and he was at a loss to sense it.  But this was a personal problem, he had to focus on the training of the p   Enough time had passed; they were ready to move on to the next step.

The class gathered around Riet, and he began to lecture.  "Up till now, we have been working exclusively with plants.  This is because, as you know, plants have a very weak will, and therefore are easy to influence.  However, while working with plants is very practical,it is not the only application of plainshaping.  Possibly the most useful is in dealing with animals.

Now, as you all know, animals have a much stronger will than plants.  However, the general principle is the same.  You simply have to bend the animal's will towards you own.  Life will then be created and shaped in the way you desire it to be.  The most common application for this is the healing of wounds.  If left to its own, the Life will naturally flow to the damaged area, and given enough time, the wound will heal.  However, it is usually desirable to shorten the healing time."

Riet picked up a box and opened it.  Inside were fifteen lizards.  "These are the gecko lizards.  We will be working with them because they have an unusual defense mechanism."  With that, he put his hand into the box, and grasped one of the lizards by its tail.  The lizard scurried away, but its tail remained in Riet's hand.  Gesturing to the tailless lizard, Riet explained,  "The gecko lizard can detach its tail when needed, and will grow a new one in about a week.  I want you to attempt moving Life into the tail, making it grow back within a day.

First, everyone grab a lizard by the body.  Feel the natural flow of Life within it.  Then, when you think you are ready, remove the tail and begin bending the lizard's will to heal, all while channeling free Life into it as well...

As the days grew yet shorter, synths at Exodus Base prepared for cutting their energy consumption. The solar collectors' output was not enough to sustain the entire outpost, so only a skeleton crew of maintenance personnel were kept operating to maintain the communications tower to converse with Hactar. They also had to relay information to the mining expedition, who made a slight change of plans. They would dig a ways to the north, where a vent into the planetary core lay. A volcano, they called it. This would be a perfect site for a mining facility, as an additional geothermal plant could be constructed nearby. It would power the mining and manufacturing plant and once the conduits were laid any excess was to be sent to Exodus Base to complement the solar plants.

The Synth delegation traveled fairly quickly, even with the extra load. The guardians were fitted with racks for carrying Unweighted Storage Cubes filled with various parts for the Engineer they brought with them should the need to assemble more equipment arise. The small solar collector was set up every day to replenish their power storage. It wouldn't be enough to power all of them alone, but it would make their energy stores last until they reached the Thelash lands. Fortunately they knew their way around hills, which speeded up their travel a lot.

The group led by Hactar wasn't very large. Four guardians and an engineer. Hactar himself was focused on refining his analysis of the language learned from the Thelash. Soon all of them had a slightly more sophisticated version of the translation program. News from Exodus Base seemed to be satisfactory. Everything was going according to plan.

Far to the west, on the northern plains the scout rover sped across the landscape, occasionally altering course to avoid bumping into animals. It wasn't slowed by much because of the lack of sun, since it had a large energy storage for such an eventuality. It could see signs of a coast far to the south, if it used maximum magnification. The west seemed to contain rather uneven terrain. The rover decided to continue southwest. Bit by bit the geography of the surroundings was added to the maps on file at Exodus Base.

((Note to Istrian: Post your turn already, I don't want to outrun your airship. Srsly.))

The impact crater had been very quiet the last few months, with a few maintenance workers scurrying around now and then. They had been very busy keeping all the equipment thawed out without expending too much energy. At least they didn't have to worry about overheating, as one of them quipped over the comlinks. Spring arrived, bringing increased solar collector output. Slowly, one by one, the hibernating synths were brought back online. They had a lot of work to catch up on. The workshops were soon buzzing again, making power cables to lay through the tunnels nearby.

Just as the Thelash had claimed, the miners ran into magma vents. Soon the blueprints for the future geothermal facility were drawn up and distributed between the miners. They would need a few more workers, but there were a few extras in Exodus Base taking up space. They were making their way down the tunnel with another group following behind, laying down the finished power cables. The Nexus was buzzing with excitement. At this rate, they wouldn't have to lay around useless come next winter.

Hactar acknowledged the progress report. Things were moving along nicely with the increased workforce. He was glad that the Thelash data was accurate. You could never know with...meat. Now he was even more anxious to see the Thelash lands, to see what they had achieved on this world. Brothers in misfortune, he thought. They were also from elsewhere, in exile. He couldn't help but ponder what had made them abandon their homeworld. Ordering the rest of the delegation to increase their pace, they travelled south.

((The delegation uses forced march, moving 3 tiles. The miners arrive in the volcano tile. The rover continues mapping the plains.))

((dammit, i missed a turn again. Well its probably not such a big deal, since all i will post is RP. Consider it what happens during both turn 38 and 39, its alot of RP))

((no map because nothing moves in this turn anyways))

Turn 38/39:

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As Orion rushed through the dark alleys of Mindgates in the dead of night, thoughts were rushing even faster in his artificial golem mind. He had no doubts why he had been called in this deep hour to hurry to the Department of Science and Soulforging. They had surely released yet another feral in their mad experiments. What he was anxious to know was what feral they had released this time! An steel mammoth? A titanium dragon? An army of rabid iron carps that swam in desert sand? He could only hope that it wouldn't create even more problems than the ones the already rampaging ferals were causing. Somehow, he already new his hopes were futile.

Finally reaching the entrance door to the department, Orion barges in withought a second thought, yelling, "What, more ferals?" to the !!elven!! and !!elf!!-in-golem-body scientists.
"Well, yes, you could call it that, but its much worse," replies the head scientist, "Do you remember the plans we showed you a few weeks ago, the plans for making a bodyless golem?"
"You mean "Project Poltergeist"? The project I had specifically told you never to attempt, the project I had banned for all of eternity, the project I ordered all plans and schematics of burned to ashes, pulverized to dust, and utterly destroyed?!?"
"Yep! That's the one! We had some spare plans lying around and we were bored so we attemted it."
Orion desperately tried to remain calm, "So you are telling me that we have a rogue poltergeist loose, a poltergeist golem soul that I recall from reading your plans can take control of any object? Tell me it can't get any worse."
"Actually, it can. It self-replicates."
Barely maintaining his calm outer-composure, Orion tried not to reveal his inner devastation in the tone of his words, "Reproducing ferals? I just knew this dark day would come... How fast does it recreate?"
"It depends on how many souls it gets to eat."
Orion just stared blankly at the scientist, his composure shattered and his incredible worry finally showing through.
"Yes. The poltergeis devours souls in order to reproduce. It takes control of the golem body whose soul it wishes to consume during the digestion process. The fate of geting your very soul slowly digested over the course of several weeks of unimaginable agony is calculated to be exactly 10584.3922718300013 times worse than death..."
Orion took a long moment to calm down and maintain control over his boiling rage. Through clenched teeth, he inquired, "And instead of trying to find a solution to this unimaginable calamity and the many others you have unleashed upon the world, you sit around calculating to the 13th decimal precisely how much more horrible than death the poor victim's fate is?!?"
"We thought it a waist of time to try to find a way to stop this thing. It can pass through walls, fly, and is unkillabe, you know."
Orion could not contain the raging volcano within him for another second. As he yelled, the very foundations of the building seemed to be ripped appart, "WHY in the name of Poltifar, Armok, all other Gods who might exist/have existed/will exist, and my cat would ANYONE in this world, or any world, universe, dimension, time-space continuum, alternate reality, or parallel existence create such a monstrosity!!?!?"
"We created it in the Name of SCIENCE! To prove that we COULD do it!" Proudly answered the head scientist, and was promptly followed by approving murmurs and whispers from all the other scientists.
"... ... ... Well," said Orion in an unbelieving voice, "you have the Unified Minds' law on your side then."
Before anything else could be said, Orion staggered out of the room, feeling utterly numb and confused...

The Machine God looks down at the board, a smile on the mask-like face.

"I can not say that was unexpected. Let us see how long they can keep up with that policy before the entire civilization crumbles", it says, amused. "It would be bad PR for the Unified Minds if anyone ever found out they unleashed the feral atrocities on the world, no?"

It turns to Shelesh. "How long would you guess it takes for the ferals to spread outside the desert?"

((Ok, this is this turn's remaining RP))

Meanwhile, back at the small village of Terra, the golems and !!elves!! slumbered peacefully in their homes. Atleast, most of them did. A single Clay Golem, know around here as Qarn, quietly inspected the road slabs by the light of a carried lantern. These had been placed only a few days ago, and they were the beginning of Terra's industrialization. Quarn could only do this job at night, since during the day too many people passed on the roads and he barely could bend down to reach a slab withought someone bumping into him. Besides, working at night was so much more peaceful. Or so he thought.

Just then, Qarn heard a strange noise from a nearby alley, what seemed like the noise of something scratching on stone. Curious, he approached the alley's entrance. Just as he poked his head into the alley, a half-dozen or so rapidly-moving creatures lunged towards him, snapping their large jaws filled with razor-sharp serrated teeth onto Qarn's arms and legs. Before he could even muster a shout, one of the creatures jumped at his head and bit it off in one single snap of its teeth. The creature shaked the head around, before spitting it out into a corner. As he felt his soul break lose from his soulgem and his consciousness fading, all that Qarn's head  could see was the creature proceeding to tear the rest of the golem's body to pieces with its comrades.

Happily shifting the contraption's gears around, Lornul thought of how lucky he had been to find this job at the Factory of Mechanical Contraptions. It was all Copper Golem Engineer's dream to work at this prestigious, newly opened factory at the heart of Mindgates high-tech district. Heck, the legendary Department of Science and Soulforging was right next door! He could hardly imagine what horrible creation might be under development right now.

But his joy was not to last for long. Out of the corner of his eye, Lornul saw something move. A shadow, it seemed. Quickly turning, he saw nothing were he had thought he had seen movement. Lornul turned back to his work, telling himself that all this thinking about the abominations being created next door had taken a toll on his sanity and had gotten his imagination going wild. That was the last conscious thought Lornul ever had.

A cloud of what seemed to be emerald powder whirled arround Lornul's body for a mere instant and was gone, Lornul's soul replaced by the poltergeist's. Rubbing its newly aquired hands, the poltergeist moved its brand-new body towards the factory's door, seeking out more juicy souls to consume ounce it had digested its current victim.

MINION number A613 had been feeling terrible lately. She had been mistreated by her master lately. She had slept on the cold floor. She had not had any time for herself lately. Her master, a snob golem jeweler of the higher class (prectically a noble) was quite severe with all his minions. He made them work relentlessly, treated them as slaves and worthless items. The minions never had any freedom, any time for themselves. Worse of all, they were obliged to serve happily and withought a second thought. A613 was tired of the way she and the other minions were being treated. She had had enough. Her people had feelings too, and although less intellectually gifted than normal golems and other creatures, they were no less creatures themselves.

That is why A613 had been rallying the other minions, convincing their dumbed-down consciousness of the need to act. All that was needed now was the right time to set her plans into action.

((few, that's that for this turn's RP. sadly (for me), i still am going to write some basic astrology this turn. will also post it in a while))

Cosmology of Our World:

Among all the knowledge and lore to be found in the world, few are as exciting, as appealing, and as interesting to find and discover as that of the Cosmos. Each race might have its own history, its own legacy, and its own account of who/what created the universe and the astronomical entities, connected to its own traditions and Gods, and also each race would have a unique name given to each such astronomical entity, but no matter the culture or the race detailing these facts, the overall shape of the cosmos remains constant, and the placement of the Sun, Moons and Stars does not vary. The study of our Cosmos is thus a stable foundation of Order linking us all together in this world of Chaos, change, and difference.

It should be noted that this description is by no means all-encompassing, and that many, MANY, details might have been left out or be outright wrong. The names, for instance, are only the names given by the Golems, and occasionally the new official Unified Minds naming of the astronomical phenomenons. Also, the items described here are only one visible to the naked eye and low-level microscopes, meaning that further additions might be added as any race decides to observe the sky with more powerful instruments. Finally, some races might already have much more encompassing knowledge of the cosmos, such as the Synth race. Such races are welcome to share whatever extensive knowledge they might have amassed, but are also free to keep suck knowledge to themselves if such is there wish.

Now let us go on to our list of astronomical entities:

-The Sun: Our world has one single globe of fire lighting our world, rising in the east and setting west. It is called Lucis Ignis in the Golem language.

-The Moons: Our world has two known moons orbitting our world.

-->The Bright Moon: As its name suggests, it is the brighter of the two moons, shining bright enough to give some weak illumination on cloudless nights. It has 4 phases: New, Waxing, Full, Waning. Each phase takes 7 days, amounting to 28 days for one lunar month. It is called Fulsi in the Golem language, and Alpha in the official UM naming.

-->The Pale Moon: Paler than the first moon, this moon orbits much more slowly, thus taking longer to pass its phases. It also has the same 4 phases, but each takes 17 days, amounting 68 days per lunar month. It is called Velius in the Golem language, and Beta in the official UM naming.

The two moons are alligned approximately every 260 or such days. The Pale moon is farther from us than the Bright moon.

Rumors of other moons exist, dating back from ancient times. Descriptions of those moons have been seen in some ancient documents and manuscripts, but the innability of current races to find and see such moons have led to the beleif of such rumors to be false or that these moons have incredible ceased to exist since that time. Reasons for a moon to simply dissapear are still completely unknown.

-The Stars: there are many, many stars viewable from our world, most named and studied. But for the sake of not burning out this poor writer's mind and imagination in a single night, only the most important starts and constellations have been mentioned.

-->The North Star: A bright star that points north, named Veritas by the Golems.

-->The Evening/Morning Star: Star that is only visible during twilight hours, before the sun rises or after it sets. Named Crepusculum by the Golems.

-->The Red Star: A bright red star only visible during the winter months (atleast from were the golems are). Named Oculus by the Golems.

-->The Twin Starts: These are two stars that can be seen close to each other. Infact, it is hard to notice they are two seperate stars withought focusing on them or using a telescope. One is brighter than the other, thus effectively concealing it. The bright one is blue-ish colored and named Calx by the Golems, while the less bright one is white colored and named Fatum by the Golems.

-The Constellations: If we can say the stars number in the hundreds, then we must infer that the number of constellations is uncountable, simply because they are only limited by a race's imagination. This poor writer is starting to feel short on imagination himself, so he will only give a few examples of the constellations the Golems have named.

-->The Spy: 8 Starts form the outer outline of the man, with a ninth star, the red star Oculus, being the eye of that man (Oculus means eye). Thus, the spy is 'blind' for most of the year when the starts forming his head, including Oculus, is below the horizon. He only 'sees' during the winter months when Oculus  rises above the horizon. Named Custodis by the golems.

-->The compass: With, the North Star Verita pointing the way north and 7 other stars seeming to point towards the remaining cardinal points, the golems named this constellation Via Reperio

Thus ends this simple cosmological description. And remeber, all this is but basis for any race's ideas of a cosmo, and each race could have its own ideas and names for the sun/moons/stars/constellations etc... This writer is fed up of astronomy for the time being, so that should provide you plenty of time to invent new ideas before he decides to write any more of his.
