When i said i'd like to be Skipper, that also meant first mate  :D. So, i dont want to be the captain, just his best buddy. We all know the coolest things happen to the first mate. ^_^

So far, every community fort (with the exception of the one that died due to a boredom-inspired Dwarf Companion-assisted berserking mayor) I've joined up in, I've ended up being female.  I have yet to learn the gender of my recently claimed spiderling in another fort.  I'm betting on female.

Guess I better just get used to it...  Yeah, I'm okay with female, and swashbuckler is great for me.   Also, it's the other way around as far as the names go.  It would be Fishgut+(dwarfname), not (dwarfname)+fishgut.  It's a nickname, ya know?  Like Bootstrap Bill.

Nice work, how long did it take for you to build?

It's technically not floating in the water, of course. It is held up by one single pillar on the bottom level.

I think you know what has to be done here.

I'll take a dwarf, male or female.  Make em a Cook/Brewer named Boucher.
This ship is totally awesome, hats off to you for the construction.

ColonelTee3:  Arr, ye be the first mate then!

Kagus:  Sorry, you didn't specify and I knew we were going to run out of males first so I thought I would ask, I appreciate it =) Also, sorry about the name thing, I've fixed it.  Did I mention I've been swilling grog?  =)

Skooma:

Quite a while actually, I started it on the 26th of last month, and 6 years have passed in game.

The longest part of the construction was the top deck, because the surface area is just huge, and I kept running out of wood and needing to wait for trees to grow.  It would've gone a lot smoother if I didn't have to sever a large aquifer off during construction.  I have a few renders of it in 3d dwarf saved during construction before the dry dock was filled if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Also, that pillar ... it's surrounded by water at the bottom of the dry dock ... as much as I would love to back the save up and do that, I don't even think I can ... It would be an epic collapse though, to be sure.

I did, during construction, nearly have that happen though, the boat was held up by a temporary bridge, and the guy constructing the crows nest fell, and the wall he was deconstructing shattered and him and the wood logs punctured the deck, fell a total of about 12 Z levels down through 4 decks and into the dry dock, leaving only ONE single tile barely connecting the whole ship.  =o  It was interesting to find out that falling blocks will destroy workshops too, and KEEP falling!

JoRo:  Ok man, if I make you a female, it will even things out a bit, so if you don't mind I'll sign you up as that.  I'll make sure it's a manly female =)

I would like to take a male dwarf  :)

Name him Horatio and make him a Petty Officer
(or smth synonymously, got it from dictionary)
so its a military dwarf fighting with 2 sabres, or swords as an excuse.

I call Kalen, female swashbuckler-in-training. I'll go with the old standby of a sword as her main weapon.

I was like, ha, this looks like a pretty dumb and boring game. I was so wrong. Gentlemen, I have discovered true fun.

I take a female and call her "Jaina".
As roles, she get the role of woodcutter/carpenter and axedwarf.

I'll join gladly:

Dwarf: Beardless Bob
gender: male
profession: siege operator, bone carver

Some early gunpowder experimenting scorched his face and earned him his nickname. For now he'll just stick to ballistas and catapults.

I be claimin' da last dwarf, yarr!

Name: Duncan... a? Yes, Duncana (I have the female, yes?)
Profession: Pirate Accountant

Give him appraiser or whatever is needed. Yes, I know he'll be almost entirely useless if you're not trading with dem landlubbers, but that just adds to the fun!   ;) Maybe give him Consoler, to cheer up the cabin fever'd pirates.
