New matireal?
« on: February 24, 2008, 01:02:00 pm »

So you've got metal, stone, wood.... but I want to make rubber! Rubber armor, to be exact. How does one create a new matireal?

You can only make new metal, stone, or wood.

You could make cork, that's sort of rubbery.

Rubber armor?

You could make a metal called rubber. You'd need a metalsmith's forge to make anything out of it though. You would also end up with rubber weapons, though that's hardly a bad thing.

Another way is making a plant called rubber, but with no (or very obscure) spawn settings. You can then use the smelter to produce rubber cloth, and then use the clothesmaker's to make rubber armor and clothing.

Indeed not, especially as you can specify damage caused by weapons and damage absorbed by armour of a specific 'metal' separately - so while rubber might make a semi-decent armour (say, [BLOCK_PERC:60], maybe?), it'd also be a potentially wonderful training weapon ([DAMAGE_PERC:25] or perhaps even less? Can't say I've ever been hit by a big stick of rubber, but surely it can't be anywhere near as painful as being hit with a block of wood, and that's the default [DAMAGE_PERC:50]  :D)

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Wrong. These are the tags to specify what can be made out of a metal (excluding [ANY_USE] because that's for adamantine):
[WEAPON][AMMO][ARMOR][ANVIL][DIGGER][WEAPON_RANGED]

Though you would have to tolerate rubber furniture and crafts no matter what.

Side note, is it sexy or is it dang sexy that so many dwarves are decked entirely in leather?  Leather pants, coats, shirts, gloves... hmmm...
Mayhaps I can mod in...
Leather cat suit...
