size everything
« on: February 24, 2008, 12:27:00 am »

I'm trying DFG3 and am used to the rectangular cursor, rooms, etc.
The pictures are good but everything is too small.
I'd like to be able to see the dwarfs, just zoom in on the whole screen, even at the cost of showing less squares at a time.
Tweaked a couple things but hasn't worked so far.
Everything is the same size in full- or non-full screen.
Idea?  Thanks.

As the game is today, you can not yet zoom in. If you want to try out a larger font from the wiki or around the fourms if haven't already. Other than that, you're out of luck.

Yeah, I wished this too... For now your dwarves just are at size of your letters...

Has anybody tried to "overthrow" the system by making the game use graphics tiles larger than the font tiles? The creatures are supposed to be superimposed over the landscape, so they would be indeed larger, and not clipped if the engine allows it...

The way it reads graphics from BMP files is the key. It separates the file in descripted size squares and then stuffs them in the 1 character tile.

One thing you can do to see a 'zoomed' window is to open the windows magnifier, and use that as a 'zoom'.

it's clunky, but it works.

But the graphics are defined separate from the tiles, so you can set the graphic tile size differently. Has anyone tried?
