Melee damage/weapon damage

It looks like these numbers are not the same parameters of inflicting damage...
For example, some weapons have 100+ damage, but melee attack of 30+ seems more powerful... And why all megabeasts then have such small melee attack? Because of their size or another reason?

So, how can I compare (in digits) melee damage and damage of the spear of the creature of the same size?

I think that unarmed attacks, like punching, biting, etc. don't do just their listed damage but also gain a bonus based on how big the creature is; this would be why giants and other large creatures do so much damage just punching you.

However, I don't know if weapon attacks get a similar bonus. In almost every unmodded situation it seems that real weapons do more damage, but if you start modding in creatures with large damage values for their unarmed attacks it's going to start becoming unpredictable.

Well, unarmed piercing attack of 30 always penetrate the humanoid body/head of size 7 in 1 hit.

While spear with damage 80-100 just damages eyes/ears/brain.
Thus I think there're A LOT of bonuses to unarmed combat. That's why I decreased my illithid melee damage from 4-33 to 2-8 -). They're still deadly.

Weapon damage is multiplied by 10.  A short sword deals 10 damage while a swung (not fired) crossbow deals 7.

Natural weapons are, presumably, unscaled.  A 1:6 attack deals 1 to 6 damage.
