Catching and Breeding Fish
« on: December 24, 2007, 10:12:00 pm »

If I add the [CHILD:0] Token to a vermin_grounder or vermin_fish, will they acquire male and female varieties and breed? If not, how would I go about doing such a thing?

I think fish spontaneously appear and disappear in suitable pools of water. What defines a "suitable pool of water" is still being researched, but I believe that running water helps.

Yes, I understand that fish behave like vermin (because they have the VERMIN_FISH or VERMIN_GROUNDER tokens. Now, if you give the [CHILD:1][CHILDNAME:rat pup:rat pups] Tokens to rat and you capture a 2 rats, will those rats produce more rats?

Vermin don't have genders, I don't believe, and thus won't breed.

Basically, as far as I can tell, vermin and animals are entirely different constructs with regards to code. Vermin can't have bodies (they give errors when you give them body tokens in the raws) and animals can't be size 1 (errors again). I have never tested, but I'll bet child and baby tags are more that will give errors when used in a vermin's entry.
