Just a few ideas bouncing around, tell me if you like them or not about new stone types.

Anthracite, a more potent powerful coal
A impure Mithril ore, not yet named, that will be metamorphosed igneous materail composed of 50% mithril

Mithril in its entirity, as both abundant and sparse ores (abundant ores available deeper)

If you can think of any other ores to add tell me, as well as plant suggestions!

And while circles may not doing anything, i bet you have a nice new feature in your room   :D

I was doing some testing last night, and i think the giant lizards are even more ferocious than i thought, and are quite abundant. They arnt difficult, but like other large packs of animals you wouldnt want to run into a group of them!

One tore a few lions apart before it fell to them.

If you can test fortress mode for me, and tell me if there are any idiotic pet values etc that would be great, i dont think its as balanced as it could be.

EDIT: dont know about others, but I have some...not so positive feelings about megaupload. So if you want, I can host your mod! Its just a simple googlepage site, I use for file storage.

Little bit of advice. Add a Read Me to your download, that explain installation. Or at least put it in your first post. Because some people are oblivious. Like myself. kthxbai

I DO have a readme, but in the rush to fix the download i forgot to add it!

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, ill fix it tommorow. (added a install guide to the first post!)

Thanks alot! The magaupload link has started to play up occasionally - so im glad we have at least a secondary source for people to download from.

I havnt had time to do much work today on the mod.. but i will probably will have a few more things done in a couple of hours.    :)

The vampire is STILL underpowered.. its hard to guess at creatures balance without having a look at pre-existing creatures. Should i make its bite attack something crazy like 40 - 50 and see what happens? I think i might :P

Im also going to downgrade the dreaded carp from its default 1-6 bite attack to just 1-2. I cant totally disarm the carp, or all sheer hilarity of getting killed by a toothless fish will disappear !

Progress is continuing, and ive got some suprises in store if they work!

Do skeletons and undead come as a creature in a raw, or is it handled by some inbuild, hardcoded system? I have a idea for them.

*NOTE ABOUT THE CURRENT VERSION* I did something wrong, and dwarves no longer generate on world spawn. To solve this, add [CIV_CONTROLLABLE] back to their entity in entity_default.txt. It is better if you manually select which race you want as CIV controllable, and add [INDIV_CONTROLLABLE] on the one you dont, or it can mean certain races dont show up

Sorry for double post, but i needed to bring it to your attention.

While im hear, quick update

-Added two new sub races, Uruks and Skeven.

Uruks are black, goblin like creatures standing slightly higher than a human. Created along with goblins by Armok millenia before to serve as his footsoldiers. After Armok was defeated, they forsoke their oath along with the goblins and pursued there own agenda, which usually involves butchering dwarves; a favourite past time. They are therefore allied with goblins, and will siege fortresses that they can get to.

Being bred for combat, they have NOPAIN.

Skeven are underground creatures, speculated to be related to either kobolds or ratmen. What force or god has been the force driving the rapid spread of these creatures is unknown. Standing the same height as a human, ingame they perform the same action as the kobolds, and are a NUISANCE race. However, unlike kobolds they are much more dangerous opponents in combat.

Progress on the third version is almost done, and will be ready for release shortly.

This will include several new creatures, including differing types of dragon, giant scarabs, scarab swarms and more, and will also include both of those two new creatures i coded in.

It will also extend the weapons list for humans and dark elves respecively, and contains many numerous small fixes for the other version.

It will also add Mithril, Impure Mithril and Keen metals into the game.

So all in all, it should be quite a update.

I have already got some more ideas however, such as enchanted moving machines made by the wizards, more creatures and hopefully more plants etc for the dark elves!

Im also currently planning for one of the major races in the storyline of the mod, The loyal servants of the blood god armok, his chosen warriors and demons unleashed on the world of omen to kill and destroy!

I have several ideas for them, being the antithesis of the wizard race they will:

- Be made up of several creatures, Horrors, Chosen warriors, and Other demon types, rather than just one creature type for civ

-Be like a 'tank' race - powerful, well armoured, but slow and with limited ranged weaponary.

- WIll be able to use some extremely wicked weapons of war.

-Will of course, be evil and siege settlements etc.

-Other things that dont come to mind right now.

However, i dont know whether to try and implement this in the current version of dwarf fortress. I plan to have a entire idea done for this race on a few bits of A4, and ill probably wait until more control i given in the next update.

Im confident i might be able to add the Armok faction as a optional faction with the next release as a tester. But i hope to start concentrating more on plants and gem updates for fortress mode.

In response to the new metals question. It would be nice if cobaltite could be smelted to make cobalt and chromite could be smelted down for chromium. Not sure what use they'd be except as alloys for extremely hard weapons or trap components. I'm always looking for something complicated to make at my fortressess, as well as more variety of items while adventuring.
