Plant Tokens and Growing

If a plant matgloss entry doesn't have the GROWDUR token, does that mean that it can't be farmed normally or that it assumes some generic duration?

Generic griwth dration, I'm not sure what it is though, maybe 500?

What does grow time translate into? Is it steps? Like turns, like it mentions in the init file with the FPS?
