*kicks Kyselinas head to the remaining carps as well, for them to feast on after finishing their pressurecooked breathen*
*Gandalfy voice*
No, I am no man, I am a god.
*slowly a smile grows that does not contain any humanity at all, a terrible grin that in cruelty is unmatched, the eternal grin of Armok, and as he break out in a mad laughter flames burst forth and consumes Kyselina to be punished for all eternity*
*a voice somewhat like the hissing of venting steam, but infinitely more powerful carrying the cruelty of nature and the arrogance that comes of uncontrolled omnipotencey, like the roaring of a hurricane and of millions of tons of tortured metal*
MAY THAT BE A LESSSSON FOR THOSSE WHO DON'T APPRECSSIATE MY WORK, FOR THEY MAY NOT HAVE IT.

Now we will just ignore the attention hogging troll (Kyselina), lets get back of topic:

thanks once again for all the positive replies!  :D
*hands out autographs*
Yes, I know I am awesome.

One thing I would be extremely honored by would be of one of all the awesome authors on this forum wrote a ¤story¤ from playing one of these hornets, it would prove somebody plays them and it would show if something about the details of their personalities is unclear. It wouldn't need to be a long story just something to test the story building that is a main focus of this mod, I cant do it myself because it wouldn't tests the published mod as I have thought of all the details and need to check if it induces the same picture in others, also I am a lousy author and and could never do them justice.
If AlanL ever fells like taking a break and working on something less emotionally involving and in Z-version... I would be honored beyond sanity.
(tip: use the personality routines from Draca as that kind of personality is quite typical to these hornets)

I was thinking of taking a break from big-scale storywriting when I finish my current one, so it's an idea. I actually thought of it before... maybe it could be made into a succession/community fort story for fortress, and adventure could create interesting situations, since humans haven't exactly been fond of the idea of giant insects roaming their cities.

O_O Those hornet-language words are long enough to make even the simplest of names scroll off the edge of the screen. Artifacts and custom names should make us mammals whimper--is THAT why you disabled civs?

Umm... I'm still a little green here, so...

Do I need to make a seperate file for the hornet stuff, or do I just stuff it somewhere?

Thanks.

I thought I was fairly clear about that?

You need to create several new files and place them in the directories advised, read carefully as the speech file should be in another directory than the others, the best is probably to use notepad for creating the files, just copy-paste.
It is also important that the files have the right names, or else they won't find one another.

Okay, thanks. Sorry for not reading properly.

EDIT: I did what I was told, created a new world with the newest DF version and tried to make an adventurer. No dice. What did I do wrong?

Specifically, I:

Added the .txt files,
Created a world,
Noticed I didn't have the newest version,
Downloaded it,
Added the .txt files to the newer version,
Created a world,
And then tried again.

So, what did I do wrong?

Exactly how did you "try", these hornets does not show up in fortress mode, as they partially replace there is a 1/9 chance there will be none in the world, anything hornet should be quickly recognizable because o the names, try adventurer mode.

Then it must be that 1 in 9 chance per world, if so you did nothing wrong, just make a new world. That MIGHT work, otherwise I have no idea...
Do you use any other mods? It shouldn't really matter but... There is also the possibility that you have made something wrong, added the files in the wrong directory or something, but you said you double checked that so I doubt it.
