Toady's lovable little dwarves

I'd like to use certain features of Toady's dwarves in a short story I'm working on. They are unique and wonderful in a way I could never hope to match. Is this the right place to ask permission? I'd send an email, but I imagine he is swamped with mail and doesn't get through all the fan mail.

I don't get that much mail.  Are you the guy that just emailed me about this?  It seems like it would be too much of a coincidence were it somebody else.  Anyway, I'll answer that email when I get to that part of my day.

I have my own Tarn Adams-sent mail... it'll be a priceless artifact in a few years when Toady will begin getting really swamped and have his inbox protected with a barricade of secretaries and +Spam Filters+ ...
