Stairs! [character set]
« on: December 11, 2007, 12:27:00 am »

Mini-mod of Guybrush's Tileset. Filled arrow & column tiles for a more solid look, made palm trees look more tree-like, goblin strongholds more sinister looking, and of course, the stairs. Can you tell which stairs go up or down?

Hmm, good idea! I don't think those tiles are used for much else...

What about the up/down stairs? I don't see it in your tileset. Does the game use the capitalised X letter for it?

Does the game use the capitalised X letter for it?

Correct. Making a spiral staircase out of an X was a challenge... Which is why it was given a border line  :)

And what is the capitalised O? The well?

I find interesting how you managed to blend characters which have multiple purposes.

Ummm, those stairs don't look very good ;P
Here, try this (although it contains the effects of me meddling in the Objects folder, so you might want to just take the stairs):

I think I prefer your stairs over mine :P That and the walls have a nice isometric look to them.

Those walls are not isometric.

They do kick ass, though.  :D

the walls have a 3/4 view instead of top-down

this can be awkward at times in a top-down game

The game is not really top down. You could make everything 3/4 if the tiles were big enough to be readable. So it's up to you.
