What?

Hint: don't make one-word posts.

Basically, no way unless you make a reaction to make gem blocks. Which is pointless because you'd have to make a reaction for each and every gem type. So, no "acceptably sane" way.

As for the awnser: I only need clear and black diamond anyway so that's fine.

As for your other comment: The question was in the title and i saw no point in copy pasting it in the thread itself for no real benefit.

...

Where the hell are you going to get enough clear and black diamonds to justify the need to use them as construction material?

Anyway. The method I suggested - using blocks - implies you are going to use them to construct "constructions", as in walls or stairs. If you would want to make a statue or a chair, it will not work.
Which is why detailed explanation of the question is required in the post, title or no title. At the very least, say "question's in the title", so that readers that scan through the board with the middle button, sending threads to different tabs can afterwards understand what the thread's about at a glance.  :)

If you'd like gems as construction material for furniture, then I'm not sure it's possible. STONE:NO_SUBTYPE:STONE :DIAMOND_CLEAR would make a rough diamond as a gem, not as a rock. Going the other way and removing the [GEM:] tag from diamonds will prohibit cutting and encrusting them.

The clear diamond is for the most badass skylight in dwarven history(it's so badass it doesn't even let light pass) and the black stuff is for the ziggurat in the middle of armok's temple.

It's 12 pieces each and i can import 4 of each with every dwarven caravan if there's one settlement in my civ that has acess to gabbro.

You could add diamond stones and have them smelted from diamonds. Then you can build diamond furniture, crafts and walls. And blocks, of course, to build smooth walls.

That's some pretty impressive Smelter work if it can melt diamonds   ;)

That's some pretty high temperatures in that smelter..  Better have some coolant before nuclear fusion blows your entire fortress to kingdom come!

Another reason why DF needs a [BIOME:CRATER] tag.

I await the day when DF will have and make use of [FUSION_TEMP:] and [FUSION_PRESSURE:] tags in matgloss raws...

Dwarven carbon fusion reactors ftw!
