Adventure Mode Sleep Timer
« on: May 23, 2008, 01:05:00 am »

Is this on a timer? Is there a text file I can edit to reduce this? I'm extremely impatient, and even when I use DF in windowed mode (or alt-tab out in fullscreen), for some reason my computer freezes the process and time doesn't pass, so I literally /have/ to stare at the screen. I'd love to get rid of the long wait.

What's happening when you sleep is that you are essentialy "waiting" for 8 in-game hours, and the events around you are not abstracted out. The computer is actually working very hard during that time.

You didn't answer the question... -.-

I think no, for now it's in the exe file, but when (if) we get more raw files it could be changed.

Thats the idea.

I'm sure the computer just does a slightly quicker session of spamming the wait command.

I wish it could just use similar code to the travel rest thing. Abstract the hours, randomply place creatures, check random number for an ambush. That I would be fine with.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.
