It is a fully engraved building extending above and below ground and at the bottom was a subterranean pool, even the floor of the pool was engraved. Every other goblin tower I have ever seen was fairly plain and and above ground only.

The other 3 goblin castles were the standard fair. Suffice it to say that my 7 dwarves didn't last long. I am thinking of going back with a military dwarf expedition and clearing it out to use the goblins towers as my own.

I just wanted to say awesome.

Sounds like a temple to some foul goblin god! Taking over the site and using that one as a place to dump goblin corpses would be fitting respects to their religion!

I hope we'll soonish get to the point where finding such a marvel means that you'll have your nearest fortress send out a troop of combat-hardened, well equipped dwarves to purge it and attach the site to your kingdom, while committing acts of heroism and living through heartbreaking moments that will be retold in gold and stone in your throne room. Talk about epic. I can't wait to see where DF will end up! Go Adams brothers!!!

Indeed. In fact thats what I tried to do when I reclaimed the site, unfortunately all the goblins had somehow died off before my elite squad of 7 axedwarves arrived. I was looking forwards to a harrowing battle...

Abandoning/Dying then coming back in Reclaim mode has a funny side-effect (bug?) of clearing the place of previously existent inhabitants... (though usually with different monsters in their place)

I would not mind so much, if it were not for the fact that the hoards of goblins lead by demons were replaced by groundhogs.

WHat I am going to do now is try to create the world again from the same seed and send a proper assault force...

I am thinking
2 miner/shield/armor dwarves with picks
2 axe/shield/armor dwarves
3 crossbow/armor dwarves
All with all my skill tags into combat skills.

Hit the ground running and assault the nearest tower, clearing it out and taking it over. In the aftermath, the surviving dwarves will settle in  to their new home and try to survive despite loosing the first seasons worth of labor.

I recommend (if you've got the specs for it) placing a 6x3 embark zone, so you have a 3x3 area for yourself and a 3x3 area for the goblins.  If you land in the right spot, set up defenses immediately and dig in.  Build up your fortress and then plan your siege of the goblin towers.  A little undermining might be fun...

yes, a direct assault isn't really feasible. the tallest tower has a demon on top that shoots fireballs. It will be a bloody horrific war, and I expect to loose many a dwarf.  .

Get your stupidest dwarf, and make him tell the goblins to divide by zero. The goblin chunks left behind might take a while to rot away, but it will be worth it.

Ask them what the difference between a Huecuva and a Lich is, kill them in the resulting confusion.

Throw the moon at them(Cons: may kill you, the fortress, and the planet. Pros: you get to throw the fricking moon at someone)

Tell your spys to start sapping they're sentrys then urber charge three heavys and send them out the door to destroy the sentrys. Send in two scouts around the enemys spawn to cause chaos then move a few pyros and the remaining heavys into the capture point.
