I was working on a little mod that utilized a few new creatures, some of which would ideally pop up in the wilderness and join the player once asked. However, after a brief search (considering how slowly DF runs on my computer, it was actually a long search) I never bumped into any of them.

I don't recall ever seeing any wild elephants or anything while wandering around, either. Although I have bumped into carp. Quite literally infact.

I think they may only show up in Dwarf mode. That's been my experience, anyway.
