Simple question: [child:#] tag
« on: February 17, 2008, 06:56:00 am »

Am I right in assuming the [child:10] tag in some way affects breeding frequency and if so, which way do i adjust it to make less gorillas?

The gorillas in my fortress breed too fast. They are outbreeding the dogs and livestock. I feel bad slaughtering lots of gorilla children beacuse it seems out of character almost. They are used as war animals in my fort so they should at least be as respected as dogs (which we dont eat) and they are also much more humanoid and person-like. Even a dwarf would feel bad killing a baby gorilla. In addition to this the reason gorillas are almost extinct in real life is because they dont breed much.

CHILD:10 means they are children until they are 10 years old. [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] would make them mostly have just one child. I don't think there is a way to change their breeding frequency, though.
