Does format matter?
« on: February 29, 2008, 08:27:00 am »

If I used a raw file that was unicode instead of ANSI, would it make a difference?

The issue came up when I was adding vicuñas, the format has to be changed if I want to use the tilded n.

EDIT: After testing it seems that it does matter. Thus my vicunas will forever be missing their tildes  ;)

I believe DF does funny things with the letters and symbols in any case. For instance, my gamelog.txt contains lines such as "—shrir Bavastal†th, Recruit has bled to death." which displays as "Ùshrir Bavastalåth" in game. So if you can figure out which ANSI symbol corresponds to ñ in DF, it should display correctly in the game.
