Why isn't my animal butcherable? Is there something I am missing?

[BUTCHERABLE] isnt a tag at all

to make it butcherable you dont need any tag. not butcherable things get [BUTCHERABLE_NONSTANDARD] which makes it so they must be tamed and slaughtered, which is what keeps things like elves from being made into elf meat

the animal's corpse wouldn't register as butcherable.. hmm does it have to do with humaniod?

It's either because it's a VERMIN_HATEABLE, or because of the itemcorpse. My bet is on the latter. You basically don't get a corpse when you specify a dropped item.
