Beyond legendary
« on: February 20, 2008, 12:36:00 am »

I know that "legendary" is the highest named skill rank, but I have noticed that the actual experience levels keep going after legendary. Is there any benefit to practicing skills beyond legendary? If you're five levels into legendary, are you actually better at that skill than you were at only one level into it?

Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Not at the skill but it does continue to raise your physical stats I believe.

It is confirmed many times that going beyond legendary improves your skill and stats.

In particular, I think Legendary +5 Ambushing doesn't slow you down at all while sneaking and Legendary +5 in any crafting skill always produces exceptional goods.

I can confirm both, I've had many ambushing adventurers and stoneworks who were almost legendary and then went fey. Both are correct.

I believe that combat is a set of opposed rolls between the skills, so arbitrarily large amounts of weapon, Wrestling, and Shield Use skills are useful, although you'll run into diminishing returns at some point. (Armor Use just makes your armor weight less for encumbrance purposes so it maxes out at some point.)

Skills go more than legendary +5. Stats too.

I recall reading somewhere that +legendary throwing is bugged and your accuracy gets wonky (read: terrible). Can't confirm it though

I'm pretty sure that was for earlier versions where more skill in throwing decreased accuracy.  I believe it was fixed for 0.27.
