Replenish marksdwarf companion's bolts

Is it possible to replenish the bolts carried by a companion marksdwarf?  Right now he's effectively a poor hammerdwarf.

Well, if he's a retired-pc type npc, then you can retire your current guy, bring the bowman out of retirement and try to find some bolts. Somewhere.

He's not, but then the way I chew through companions, it probably doesn't matter in the long run anyway.
