Dungeon of death
« on: February 11, 2008, 08:43:00 pm »

I began to spawn a bunch of adventurers some time ago... All are elves and start near human town where dirty man tells them to kill just a cyclope in the cave. There's 7th elf died by GCS. I checked with DCompanion, there're 19 GCS in that cave (4 levels). The question: how many adventurers do I need to kill the cyclop?

P.S. Also a question - what makes my adv. into the legends list? Now i have just two, and it's said 1 is drown and 2nd died by colliding with obstacle. What's the reason there're only 2?

One. And 1 million others to die at the hands of the spiders.

it is a lost cause.  Even a multi-legendary, maxed out, full steel plate mail, size seven adventurer with enhanced natural attacks has difficulty killing one GCS, let alone sixteen.

I vote you finish the quest by killing everyone in the country.  You have a better chance of survival that way.

Time to mod back in the ability to play as a bronze colossus...  Damn that was fun.

I might even remember to add in the [PARALYZEIMMUNE] tag this time, as having a bronze statue get poisoned seems a little stupid to me.

Or maybe I'll build that goblin mecha again...

I had a dungeon like that, I don't use DC, but there were huge numbers of spiders in the cave, and it devoured countless adventuring parties in my attempts to clear them out.

Then there's the question - is it possible to cleanse the evil from this hole making terrifying tales about once deadly place which took lifes of many heroes, or will they just respawn?

By the way, I tried to edit the spiders, but no luck - they still cut off my head =). So I left them to be as they are.

You can throw a bleedin' bronze halberd at it and you'll still die.  Just add the [SEMIMEGABEAST] tag and they won't be s'damn common.  And you'll know when you're going to encounter one, because they'll have quests assigned to them.  That way, you'll know which caves to stay away from early on.

I honestly don't know why Toady didn't do this to begin with. Seriously.

I really hope once he adds some features for a next release that he sits down and reevaluates some of the creature raws and tweaks them. These spiders are evil incarnate, and fish ain't no picnic either.

They've already got the [BUILDINGDESTROYER:1] tag.  Open it or smash it down, it still means bearded snackbars.

Hmm I solved it without semimegabeast (because I didn't know about this tag before) by limiting their population to 15-30, and still I encounter 1-4 per cave... But it's better than before, so now my adventurer lives a YEAR already! He even kiled a bunch of giants anc cyclops =).

im playing 33g i think, and GCSs are easy as pie. Ive killed about 3 or 4 already (without trying). I was an axedwarf.... Oh and i had a HUman party of about 4 drunks, and one or two weilders of just about every weapon type following me around. So my tip is get as many followers as you can and surround the GCSs.
