I am tempted to just replace out with how stress inducing this has been today. All that work only to get BRUSHED OFF!

If you mean in-game work, I'm listening to you and not brushing you off.  I dunno if you're talking about in or out of game stuff, but in general if I can't stand how someone plays, I vote them.  They could be maf doing it, it's just play if so, and elim is a fine answer :D

I bet you mean out of game though.  Umm... yeah.  We never elim outside of game, there's serious consequences and stuff.

But setting and enforcing boundaries, AOK.  Ideal even.  And if someone brushes off a lot of your work, they don't need more of your work (unless it's at work?  Find a new job time maybe, less stress and more joy, probably more stability and could even be more pay).

If you mean in this game, I also tend not to back-and-forth too much with someone I think is likely anti-town, especially if I don't like how they are playing it?

We see that in NQT's BYOS2, where I don't really talk much with NJW.  Hardly debate him or explain at all, until it's just him and me the final night in the 'scum-chat-2' as I like to think of it.  There... I'm reading him hard, wondering what's gonna happen.  I can still die, maybe, if he kills me, I have 1 protect from death but I don't know when it gets used.  If he's already tried to kill me, if he can kill through it, there I'm 'in his power' and it's all about the many-layered cons.  He knows I think he's maf, he doesn't know I can win even if I vote wrong, and it's about the idea maybe I will vote wrong and who he has to kill (not me not me not me who can win the game for town if I'm just alive to the end).

Early though, oh yeah.  I don't even try to verify too much that NJW is maf.  I'm so sure he is, I just roll with it.  I only let that go to preserve my cover, once Crystal's confirmed not to be narrative, now I gotta hide that I was pretending Crystal was me; now I gotta pretend to look for my real narrative buddy who will destroy the maf in the end - could be NJW so I just shut down.

But debate with anti-town?  Why if it's not fun or doesn't feel good?  If you're not sure, of course.  If you feel sure for now... and they're like dragging out the mindbending and it hurts?  Nope them, just don't share that much or hard.  They're anti-town, the goal is end them, not argue with them.  Debate later if you see reason to, or not.

There is a reason I moved away from that sort of wall content posting. It stresses me out. Like at this point just vote me out instead if you think I'm scum of the earth, none of this "he's probably scum let's vote y" business. Put your vote on me if you want me gone.

Hugs if you accept them.

I set and maintain boundaries, even in games.  I set limits on how I play and what mind-bending I get into (if I like it - it's super welcome - if I don't, I protest not... after a while when I'm at the end of my rope, but as soon as I realize 'wow, this is bugging me').  I try to be specific, and explain if I know like 'if I X and you Y, that triggers me and now I'm having some kinda negative experience, and I don't have a choice in the matter; I literally do that if you Y after I X.  Can you avoid Y, at least after I X?  It would help me so much'

If I let it go really far?  So now I'm deep upset?  That seems to make stuff worse for me, so I tend to do it early, as soon as I notice 'whoops!  This is a rip tide!  Off I'm going towards my freak out, how do I swim sideways out of this!  Time to start, and not get too tired!  Remember self, backfloat and rest as needed, we're good'

But yeah.  Anyone pressing hard COULD be anti-town.   Or not.  And that's all that matters.

You're a fun player no matter your alignment, you're an awesome teammate when you're compatible wincon - and dangerous when same or not alignment too, you Tricky Dragon You!

Mater needs to hear he's Awesome, and he is.  In my eyes.  Even if I'm worried about his wincon and worried if I can read him and absolutely freaking terrified that Toaster's some key role with a team trying to make space and protect and hide him.  If I gotta tunnel to the other side of the game to get to Toaster?  Gonna do it even if I find myself among Mater's MagmaMen along the way.

Tric maybe needs to hear how Awesome Tric is too!  Wub you both, let's have an incredible game!  (incredibly good, I hope!)

FBYOR6 it was Jack about this state late D1.  I wonder if I'll be the one really stressed out in FBYOR8.

Good luck.  I hope you find joy and okayness again!

Toaster.

I tryin' to be patient and gentle.  Teal worked, you answered soon after, but you stopped too soon.

If this takes too long, it gets more and more like this.  I don't like the feel of the game around you.

You will find that short, concise posts that are straight to the point are much easier for players to read.

My thoughts on the game are that most of it was very confusing because of all of the custom roles. Additionally, it's difficult to know if someone who committed a blunder or mistake did so because they were mafia or because it was an honest mistake.

Also, I think that I've learnt two things from it:
  • Do not latch onto people
  • Do not lurk

As for my suspicions on people, I've just finished skimming Magma's posts and I am going onto Kriss.

You seem to be posting quite differently from last night.

Why has your posting/answer style changed?

Oh.  Did you tell him to make short posts, somewhere I can't see?  Cause... yeah.  His previous posting style...

ToasterCultist
taking three random games from the forum and seeing that they just happen to partially support your claim has so many holes in logic.
No mate, what I did was make a claim that passivity is a common scum trait, and point to four recent games where scum failed to vote (I had a followup post) to demonstrate that I wasn't pulling that claim out of nowhere. You played passively on Day One. You failed to make a vote. You can't get in a time machine and fix that, it's a permanent stain. A mark of suspicion.

You did claim that passivity was a common scum trait, but you're making it seem like that was the only thing you claimed. Claiming that we should suspect the people not voting is okay, but claiming we need to eliminate one person from that group seems extreme, doesn't it?

Also what??? I played passively on D1?? I don't need to get in a time machine and fix that, as the evidence points to the contrary. While I'm not proud of this decision, I almost immediately had suspicions for EuchreJack and defended my points. You can't simply look at the final (votes were reset) counter, see I didn't vote, and generalize that I was playing passively the entire time.

So NQT, could you elaborate on your suspicions and give more reasons other than a cautious attitude?
FOSing me when you could be voting me. Another red flag! I took a look back to see what you did after I voted you on D1, and so far you've done nothing. If you start to do things I may very well update my opinion.

Are you even.. taking this game seriously?? If that's your main criterion for suspicion, then why not, NQT.

Spoiler: Off-topic (click to show/hide)

I mean, this isn't huge.  But it's quite different now.

@Toastercultist:
I'm most suspicious of Crystal, Tric, and NQT. I think Tric and NQT are mutually exclusive though, if one is scum the other is not.

I'm also suspicious of you and Jack, however it is not as much and I think your N1 claims here are probably the truth. I know that I am town and I think it makes sense you would want to hold onto an innocent result this early in the game so I don't blame you for keeping that to yourself.

Toony.  While he works on what he was working on, supposedly, from last night.

You told us:

Agentt is town.

Nobody inspect me or bad things happen.

I could go for a tuna sandwich.

You were apparently inspected.

You didn't appear to know you had been.

You appear to immediately believe you were inspected when Toaster claims he has.

You immediately unvote Toaster.

Ummm?

So.  Ummmm?
