When did the game get to 1GB size?

It used to be like 50MB. Previous Steam versions are 270-280MB.

Version 51.02 is 1.03GB.

What is happening?

Blue Dwarf has been happy lately. He did some !!science!! recently. He admired a fine forum post lately. He was enraged by a forum troll recently. He was upset by the delayed release of the new version of Dwarf Fortress lately. He took joy in planning a noble's death recently.

Sound.

The sound folder is literally 97% of the size of the game. Or at least, 97% of the size of the data folder; I'd have to clear out some save data but presumably it runs a slightly smaller percentage of the overall game size.

Point being, basically all of that size increase you see is just music.

Sound is nothing, once the game is installed save games quickly take over. When not compressed they can grow up to ridiculous size. uncompressed save for the museum game is worth 12.3 GB on its own, currently.
