Dang, so Egan and Rose did submit entwined histories?  Thanks for revealing that so early.

Local Business Benefits from Cross-Country Visitors

Clarbyville’s modest charm is drawing unexpected visitors as travelers from neighboring provinces pass through on their way to larger cities. Several businesses reported a spike in sales during the holidays, particularly those near the highway rest stop.

Maggie Jensen, owner of Jensen’s Bakeshop, said her store saw a 20% increase in foot traffic last week. “People are stopping in for our cinnamon rolls—they’ve become a bit of a roadside legend!”

Travelers are also filling up at Caleb’s Gas & Convenience, where staff have been busy restocking snacks and hot beverages. The Clarbyville Chamber of Commerce plans to explore ways to encourage more passersby to linger in town.

Wildlife Warning: Coyotes Spotted Near Residential Areas

Residents on the west side of town have reported multiple sightings of coyotes near suburban backyards, prompting a warning from the Clarbyville Wildlife Bureau. The animals are likely searching for food during the colder months, but officials advise keeping small pets indoors after dark and securing garbage bins.

“This isn’t unusual for this time of year,” said a wildlife officer. “Coyotes are typically shy, but it’s best to give them space and not leave out anything that might attract them.”

Anyone spotting aggressive or injured wildlife is encouraged to contact the Wildlife Bureau hotline immediately.

Oddities: The Return of Homemade ‘Everything’ Patches

A peculiar new hobby has taken Clarbyville by storm: patch-making. Residents young and old are creating colorful, hand-sewn patches to represent everything from favorite pastimes to local landmarks.

“I made one for the old water tower!” said a proud participant at the library’s weekly crafting circle. “It’s my favorite view in town.”

The patches have started appearing on jackets, backpacks, and even in a community quilt project that will be displayed at the Clarbyville Heritage Fair next month.

Crafty Creations, the local hobby store, has struggled to keep embroidery thread and fabric scraps in stock, calling the patch-making trend “a delightful surprise.”

Regional News: Rail Project Delayed, Impacting Commuters

Plans to expand the regional rail line connecting Clarbyville to the capital have been delayed due to supply chain issues, according to the Provincial Transit Authority. Construction, originally slated to resume this month, is now postponed until mid-spring.

The project, which aims to improve transportation options for rural communities, has faced mixed reactions locally. Some residents welcome the easier access to larger job markets, while others worry about potential disruptions to Clarbyville’s quiet charm.

For now, commuters will need to rely on existing bus routes or personal vehicles to make their way to the city.

Top Story: UFO Sighting Sparks Debate Across Clarbyville

Last night, Clarbyville residents reported the most credible unidentified flying object (UFO) sighting in the town’s history. Witnesses claim a large, glowing object hovered silently over Lake Haven for several minutes before disappearing into the night sky.

“It was massive, bigger than anything I’ve ever seen, and it didn’t make a sound,” said local fisherman Greg Walters. “It had lights, but they weren’t blinking like an airplane. It was just... floating there.”

Several others along the lakeshore reported seeing the same object, describing its light as having a faint, otherworldly shimmer. A few even claimed to see what looked like intricate, almost artistic designs along the object's underside.

Authorities have not confirmed the sighting, though Sheriff Tom Henson stated, “We’re looking into it, but so far, there’s no evidence to suggest anything out of the ordinary.”

Local astronomer Susan Delaney suggested the object could have been a weather balloon or an experimental aircraft. However, the unusually clear night allowed for several cell phone videos to capture the phenomenon, and experts have yet to offer a definitive explanation.

For now, the incident remains a mystery, fueling discussions at Mary’s Café and beyond. UFO enthusiasts are already calling it a significant event in Dominara’s history.

Streetlight Vandalized Near Town Square

In less otherworldly news, a streetlight near Clarbyville’s central square was vandalized late last night, leaving the area darker than usual. Officials found the lamp’s cover shattered and its wiring damaged, likely caused by a blunt object.

“This is disappointing,” said Public Works Manager Sheila Groves. “Streetlights are important for everyone’s safety. We’re working to repair it as soon as possible.”

Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity to the sheriff’s office. Authorities believe this act of vandalism may be linked to a recent uptick in minor property damage around town.

Around Town: Community Updates

Craft Fair Success
The winter craft fair at the town hall drew a record crowd this year, with over 300 visitors browsing booths showcasing homemade goods. “I sold out of my hand-knitted scarves in under an hour!” said vendor Elaine Porter. Proceeds from the fair will go toward supporting local schools.

Weather Update
After a brief warm spell, Clarbyville is bracing for another cold front, with temperatures expected to drop to -10°C by the weekend. Residents are advised to prepare for icy roads and keep an eye on vulnerable neighbors.

Library Expands Hours
The Clarbyville Public Library announced extended hours to accommodate students returning to school after the winter break. New hours include a 9 PM closing time on weekdays. Library Director Paula Hill said, “We want to make sure everyone has access to a quiet place to study.”

Editorial: Keep Watching the Skies

By Logan Trent, Opinion Columnist

UFO sightings have long fascinated humanity, and Clarbyville’s latest incident is no exception. Whether it was a craft from another world, an experimental device, or a trick of the light, one thing is certain: it captured our imaginations.

As we ponder the mystery, let’s remember to approach the unknown with curiosity and an open mind. Our world is vast and full of wonders. What’s out there? Maybe, just maybe, Clarbyville got a little closer to finding out.

Stay tuned to the Clarbyville Gazette for updates on these and other stories shaping our community.

Whew.  So far, that's the one thing that actually seemed off or wrong or inexplicable about Clarbyville.  I am incredibly relieved to hear that was a mod error :)

Top Story: Police Investigate Mysterious Explosion Outside Town

Residents on the eastern outskirts of Clarbyville reported a loud explosion late last night, accompanied by a brief flash of light. The event, which occurred near an abandoned barn on Wickers Road, has sparked speculation across town.

“I thought it was thunder at first,” said local farmer Bill Renshaw. “But the sky was clear, and the sound was too sharp, almost like something breaking apart.”

Sheriff Tom Henson confirmed that authorities are investigating the scene, though no injuries or structural damage have been reported. “We’re treating it as an isolated incident for now,” he stated.

Some residents have tied the explosion to the recent UFO sighting over Lake Haven, though no evidence has emerged to support the theory. Officials urge residents to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.

New Recycling Program to Launch in February

The Clarbyville Public Works Department announced the rollout of a new curbside recycling program starting next month. Residents will receive free recycling bins, and pickups will occur every other week.

“This program is a big step toward reducing waste and preserving our local environment,” said Public Works Manager Sheila Groves. “We’re excited to see the community embrace it.”

Clarbyville’s landfill has been nearing capacity for years, making this initiative a crucial development. Information packets detailing the program will be distributed to all households this week.

Street Racing Concerns Grow on South Ridge Road

Reports of illegal street racing on South Ridge Road have been increasing, according to local authorities. Residents have complained of loud engines and speeding vehicles late at night.

“It’s dangerous,” said Susan Martinez, who lives nearby. “Someone’s going to get hurt if this keeps up.”

The sheriff’s office has pledged to increase patrols in the area and is urging residents to report any suspicious activity. “These races not only endanger participants but also innocent drivers,” said Sheriff Henson.

Movie Review: Whisper of the Stars Shines Bright

By Emily Carter, Entertainment Correspondent

At first glance, Whisper of the Stars might seem like just another sci-fi thriller, but its thoughtful narrative and stunning visuals elevate it into something extraordinary. Directed by Martin Valens, the film follows an astrophysicist who uncovers evidence of an ancient interstellar civilization—and must decide whether to share her discovery with the world or protect it from those who would exploit it.

Valens balances suspense with introspection, crafting a story that feels both deeply personal and universal. Lead actress Mira Lang delivers a standout performance, capturing the awe and dread of humanity’s place in the cosmos.

With breathtaking cinematography and a haunting score, Whisper of the Stars lingers long after the credits roll. It’s a must-watch for fans of intelligent sci-fi and anyone who has ever looked up at the night sky and wondered what’s out there.

Clarbyville Schools Expand After-School Arts Program

In a move celebrated by parents and educators alike, the Clarbyville School District has announced an expansion to its after-school arts program. The initiative will now include classes in digital design, creative writing, and performing arts.

“This is about giving our students the tools to express themselves and explore their creativity,” said Superintendent Maria Faulkner.

The expanded program is made possible by a recent grant from the Dominara Arts Foundation. Enrolment is set to begin next week, and spots are expected to fill quickly.

This is all really OOC.  But I love my made-up six year old that of course I didn't sign up so I am still pretending to play him because it flows for me.

Top Story: Historic Train Depot Restoration Receives Green Light

The Clarbyville Town Council has approved funding to restore the historic train depot on Cedar Avenue, a project long advocated by local historians and preservationists.

Built in 18X9, the depot once served as a vital hub for transportation and commerce but has sat unused for decades. The restoration plan includes repairing the original brickwork, refurbishing the interior, and creating a small museum showcasing Clarbyville’s rail history.

“This depot is part of our town’s identity,” said Council Chair Joan Lively. “Restoring it will preserve our heritage and create a space for future generations to connect with our past.”

The project, which is expected to cost $500,000, will be funded through a combination of grants and local donations. Work is set to begin this spring.

Sports: Clarbyville High Spartans Clinch a Narrow Victory

The Clarbyville High Spartans boys’ basketball team delivered a thrilling win against the Ashford Panthers last night, edging them out with a final score of 58-56.

The game, held at the Clarbyville High gym, kept fans on the edge of their seats as the lead shifted multiple times. Senior forward Marcus Hill made the winning basket with just three seconds left on the clock, cementing the team’s undefeated streak this season.

“Our players showed incredible heart and determination,” said Coach Will Grady. “This win is a testament to their hard work and teamwork.”

The Spartans now prepare to face their long-time rivals, the Greenville Hawks, in what promises to be another high-energy matchup next week.

Local News: New Bakery Opens in Downtown

Sweet Haven Bakery celebrated its grand opening yesterday, drawing crowds eager to sample its signature pastries and artisan bread. Located on Maple Street, the bakery is run by siblings Clara and David Nguyen, who moved to Clarbyville last year.

“We’ve always dreamed of opening a bakery, and this town felt like the perfect place,” said Clara.

The menu features a mix of traditional treats, like chocolate croissants, and unique offerings, such as lavender honey scones. Sweet Haven also sources ingredients from local farms, making it a hit with the community.

Public Safety: Increased Patrols Planned for Town Square

In response to recent incidents of vandalism and reports of loitering, the Clarbyville Sheriff’s Office announced plans to increase patrols in and around the town square.

“We want to ensure everyone feels safe when visiting the area,” said Sheriff Tom Henson. “This is a proactive measure to address concerns before they escalate.”

The decision comes after a string of minor property damage incidents, including the recent vandalism of a streetlight. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
