Pfp

I got the duelist inspect result, and no other message. Imp duelist-inspected as town, as expected.

During the night, I attempted to stop EP targeting Imp, but I don’t know if it worked. Not surprised that CM is town, slightly surprised they died. The play I expected from EP would have been to kill Imp, but I suppose they were worried about the protection/narrative ability Imp keeps hinting at.

Obviously, I’m not going to vote early just in case I let scum quickhammer. I’m not completely careless. Absence was due to being at an event, I was online for the flip but couldn’t post. Hope Imp’s health issues improve - doesn’t sound fun.

I don't intend to quickhammer anyone. Beyond that I'm going to keep quiet about my opinions until NJW says which result he got.
I see. Don’t want to let scum know your reads, in case it gives them an advantage. Your caution is admirable.

As is probably clear, I think EP is almost definitely scum. I’d say I’m about 95% on that.

Elephant, claim your night actions. And I suppose your reads, if you feel like it.

NJW, were you intending to target me last night?  I could have misunderstood.

My health is fine now.

Yes, I targeted you.i thought there was a chance EP had the block status, so I gave you protection.

Does that make sense? I may have explained in a slightly confusing way.

yeah, makes sense.

If you had successfully targeted me, you would have gotten a message.  So something stopped one or both of those things happening.

Is it possible I was blocked by EJ’s zone? If you were in a place he had two houses, my action would have failed.

OK, so barring Imp (who was already the vastly less likely candidate going into the day) somehow cheating the alignment reveal, Imp is town and NJW is scum. In fact, I'm going to make that NJW because I'm not interested in entertaining scum!Imp at this point. She has two greenchecks, most of the dead townies townread her, she was 90% town going into this Day, and a certain part of my night PM suggests it's NJW; that's good enough for me.

I was informed at the start of the night that my task was to use Cookies (obviously unavailable), that I couldn't use Specialist, and that Pretzels was still unconsumed. I decided to Watch NJW, with the following logic:
- I want to Watch the target of the nightkill.
- If NJW is scum, he'll prevent me from targeting the target of the nightkill (probably Imp), so I can never catch his nightkill. If NJW is town, he'll prevent me and CM from targeting Imp.
- If CM is scum, she'll want to kill Imp or NJW so she isn't up against a mason pair. She'll prefer Imp or, if she predicts that NJW will prevent her from targeting Imp, NJW.
- If Imp is scum, she'll want to kill NJW.
Therefore, unless somebody out-mindgames me or has their action interfered with, I can't catch a nightkill on Imp and nobody wants to nightkill CM. So I Watched NJW. He was targeted by myself and CM, nobody else.

I was informed after I submitted my action, but before the day began, that I was unable to target CM. This didn't affect my action in any way, though it did make me suspect CM would be killed.

As for why NJW would nightkill CM over Imp or I, it's a strange move, but I can think of a few explanations:
1. Since NJW can prevent playerA from targeting playerB, and Imp was the obvious player to prevent from being targeted, Imp dying would implicate NJW as the killer
2. Given the scuffle at the end of the day, it'd be more possible to convince me to vote Imp than to convince CM to
3. The continued existence of Pretzels and its interaction with Duel means a guilty on NJW doesn't actually make NJW confscum, or me conftown, to Imp

Keep in mind that you only know Pretzels are still accessible because I voluntarily announced as much at the start of the night where EJ died. If I were scum, and I knew I was killing EJ, I would simply have let people think they no longer existed. Even if the kill failed, I could simply announce the nonexistence of Pretzels in the morning, or leave EJ to do it.

Not really worried about Imp hammering, this is scum!ep.

I did get a message (mod error) so hi to you too, imp, and I’ll keep watching

Maybe questions for EP in the morning, but not now.

Well.  It's actually based on visit, not target.

Oh well.

That's the last of the information I can provide.

This sucks, I still don't know which of you is maf.

EP made a point to make sure we knew pretzels was available.

He could have been silent about that.  And used it as maf to make town NJW appear maf.  Or me maf to NJW, dunno how well believed that is.

He could be town saying 'I see this, it's weird'.  And then nobody uses it.

Maybe it's magic.  Maybe that's a way maf mess with family genre, pretzels is actually infinite, just 1 charge per night.  Sal used it to protect himself in case - even without Family?  Our remaining maf has  would have to be you.  Maybe all the maf did, I have no clue.  And only when EJ said he'd use it we noticed something odd - it didn't go away.

I dunno.

A maf NJW who can't use it but can restock it, hoping I wonder if EP used it.

I dunno.

Game's hard.

Still, we gotta decide.

I'm supposedly narrative.  We all saw that flip.

Narrative (Genre)
It's time to tell a story. A journey awaits you, fraught with peril and woe. But just when all seems lost, you will snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
you possess a locked one-shot killing ability. It is unlocked when the specified condition is met. When it unlocks, upgrade all of your abilities.

I don't dare make hardly any claims about myself.  But nothing tells me there's a cost to quote others.

Last night I tracked Imp. She self-targeted again.

Imp, you'll know that I targeted you as I confirmed that you don't have a third genre beyond Narrative and Duel, and you have 8 personal abilities.

Importantly, as I hinted at in earlier posts, I'm immune to abilities that interfere with my inspection results so we can definitely conclude, assuming only three scum players:

IMP CANNOT BE SCUM

EP, I think it's unlikely that NJW is scum, though it could be possible. Almost all the convos in the chat are between me and someone else, with NJW and Max not interacting much. Not sure how much weight to put on that, but my guess is Salvatore was the only scum in chat.

I can confirm Elephant Parade targeted me (with what I assume was a personal ability). Not that I think EP is mafia  but scum can kill and use a personal ability in the same night.

Crystal is my main pick today, but I'll be re-examing it all. More when I'm not pfp...

Spoiler: a lost book (click to show/hide)

Wow I laughed to see maf Juice flip with 'princess'.

I laughed harder when I saw the connections to Princess Bride.  If I hammer wrong, maybe this happens:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgrPQIsieEs

I was actually gonna ask for EP to be the elim.  To duel the duelist.  To face my fear of NJW being the biggest, baddest maf and was I

Either town wins normal or town wins... because I was given a role of the the towniest town that ever towned.

I hope.

Or all narrative mech was built to fail.  That's possible.  Poor Juice.  Poor Tric.  Poor town if this goes down.

That would be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrlMq_q_r1c  If Mater built this to be a haha. Stories aren't real.  But maybe I just brought him a good one.  https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BigDamnHeroes  Might be enough.  Intended if we got there.  If it is.  Maybe it's this song played to the entire end. "That was actually pretty realistic."

But really.  I wanted to hammer NJW since mid D1.

Let's see what happens next.

Thank you, Mater.  We gotta play a board game someday.  And.... when we're both players in a maf game again?

Yeah.  It'll be easier for me to play beside you and not be so... whatever I was there.  I'll be whatever I am here.

Vote Count - Day Six Hammers for Breakfast
NJW2000 (2) - Elephant Parade, Imp

Not Voting (1) - Imp, NJW2000

With 3 votes in play, 2 are required to lynch or to no-lynch.

Day would have ended in about 89 hours, at 19:00:00 UTC on February 11.

---

Wow! I guess you all are as eager to play as I am. Although I'm not sure what the fascination with two-player games is. What do you have, NJW?

NJW2000 lifts his copy of Baduk, accompanied by a small bag of stones.

"So, this game is called Baduk, but in the West it's more commonly known as Go. It's basically the same as Reversi."

NJW2000 separates the stones by colour. They look very similar to the ones used in notquitethere's copy of Reversi.

Well this game is known for taking a long time, but at least we decided quickly today so we have all morning, afternoon, and night to play! I'm not sure why the table is broken, but I'm personally fine with sitting on the floor. On the plus side, the pieces for this game are so simple that they'd be difficult to mess with.

"Yep, I've got all the pieces right here. I'm really excited to start! Just give me a second to grab my reading glasses."

A collective groan is emitted from the crowd. So close to playing a game, yet so far. NJW2000 raises a pair of normal-looking spectacles to his face and puts them on.

...

"..."

...

"..."

...So are you going to take your turn? You're white.

"No, black plays first."

Oh.

Magma Mater, carefully watching his opponent's face as his hand hovers over the board, cautiously places his first stone. A sigh of relief is let up from the audience as he removes his hand from the piece and returns it to his lap.

"An interesting first move. Let's see, where should I play?"

The lenses of NJW2000's glasses light up, and soft green letters begin to appear.

And there it is.

Spoiler: NJW2000's Flip (click to show/hide)

An angry mob quickly forms, and NJW2000 is unceremoniously tossed onto the lawn.

---

Hey, so, now that the cheaters are gone, we probably have time to play the last two games. What did you bring?

Well played, all!

I misread FoU, NQT, and NJW pretty badly. FoU had a frankly scummy D1 but I should've reevaluated them late D2 when they started playing like town; I don't know if there's a universe where I don't scumread NQT this game, but I should've pushed NJW harder throughout. The sheer number of lurkers made things trickier than they had to be, though, with dire consequences for the crucial formative stages of my reads.

I liked my role. It wasn't too complicated, but it presented a lot of interesting options. I don't know if there's a universe where I don't rush Watch and then use it every night I'm able, though.

Locations were like a second nightgame on top of the regular one. Too fiddly for me; glad my role didn't force me to engage with them.

I'm going to take an indefinite break from signing up for mafia games because playing with Imp rustles my jimmies.

is crying

Game is over... I loved game very much.  I have loved other games.  I love this game very much. Very very....

Guys.

Many of you say I'm pretty hard to play with.  It's not just this game and it's so many of you.

I don't know how to be better.

I don't even know how to learn.

NQT, when and if you're open to lessons.  I could probably handle them from you.  You suggested multiple times we need a chat after the game.  Web precious web... I probably can't handle them from you even though you're probably the most eager to give them.

Anyway.

I'm sorry I mangle your minds and hearts or whatever I do.

But I was so happy.  And that couldn't have happened without all of you.  Thank you for being you.

Eh, you're getting better.  A few years ago, Tric played similar to you.  Hell, I played similar to you when I started.  Just keep playing.
